Barcode began in January of 2004, when Reggie Young and good friend Anton Wynkwardt joined forces in Singapore to form a band. Reggie Young has been a staple of the Asian music scene for 15 yrs now. A Philadelphia native, Reg was already playing with American recording artists by the time he was 15 and as a musician he has seen it all. In recent years he has worked primarily in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Anton was a staple of the gospel music scene in his hometown of East London in South Africa where he was also in demand as a vocalist and drummer. An accomplished guitarist, Anton’s skills soon found him working all across Asia leaving him with many memorable gigs.

Made up of seasoned musicians, Barcode was a tight outfit from the start and quickly gained recognition everywhere they went. The band has played in the top hotels and clubs of the U.S., Indonesia, Malayasia, Dubai, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, China and Japan and continues to heat it up wherever the go.

After spending some time off with their families, Barcode is back at it again with Reggie and Anton still at the core of the group.

On drums is Anton’s long time friend Liaan Adriaanse. Also from East London, Liaan has already made a stir back home where he was in high demand as a studio session drummer and constantly touring with numerous South African recording artists. Keyboardist Phil Clarke was the leader of acid-jazz trio “Jazz Pharmacy” for 7 yrs. The band toured Canada and the U.S. for much of that time playing in countless jazz and blues festivals as well as opening for bigger artists. His band released two albums, and you can still find some of their music videos on the internet. Aisha Shillingford is currently holding down the role of lead female vocalist. A member of an acclaimed gospel group back home in Canada, Aisha has been performing in 5 star hotels throughout Asia for several years. She has performed alongside Jazz Vocalist Donna Robbins and the popular band AOC (Absence of Color). Aisha has been enjoying every moment of her travels while furthering her career as singer/entertainer. Finally we have Curtis Scott leading the band on rhythm guitar and lead vocals. Curtis has been performing for many years in the U.S. and abroad in 1st class casinos, cruise ships, and hotels. Curtis comes from a long line of musicians and can trace his family’s musical past all the way to the turn of the last century. Carrying on with the family tradition Curtis continues to develop himself as an artists and will soon be releasing his own solo recording effort, with Aisha’s not far behind.
