"PURE PARENT PLEASURE"

Female rockers rule! Especially those who play for kids. Check out Bari Koral and her Family Rock Band (composed of “downtown NYC music scene” players) at Bowery Kids! The lyrics are kid friendly (cars, waves, airplanes, farms), but the sound is pure parent pleasure: real rock. If you’re toe-tapping, Koral’s job is done; she’s all about getting parents up and dancing. — Alexandra Zissu

Bio

"I can't tell you how many times my son listens to your CD, thank god it's so good!" - Parent & BK Fan, NYC
------
Acclaimed singer/songwriter Bari Koral has joined forces with some of the best players on the downtown NYC music scene to bring you the Bari Koral Family Band--rock songs for kids that parents dig. Kids can ride airplanes, drive cars, play in a rock and roll band, ride the waves and dance all day in this high energy show for the whole family. "Dad's new car" from their highly acclaimed CD is a Children's Music Award Finalist and "A Day at the Beach" was a hit this summer for 20 weeks on XM KIDS. The band has been featured in TIME OUT KIDS, DAILY NEWS, NY 1 NEWS, FOX NEWS and more--many say this band is making some of the best children's music out there today. The Bari Koral family band have lots of earnest songs about animals and cars which are destined to become instant kid's classics. However, many other songs have plenty of adult appeal including live favorites such as "Dance all Day," which seems to draw from equal parts Blondie to The Hokey Pokey.

A successful touring singer and songwriter, Bari developed the idea of a family music band after routine visits from her niece, then 4 years old. "I would comb nyc looking for an activity we could enjoy together. She always responded to good music but she wasn't ready for a full on adult concert. I was looking for a musical environment we both could enjoy, and finally I just decided to create one."

The band's fanbase ranges from 1-81. "The concerts are totally interactive. We give kids a lot of credit when it comes to knowing quality music. It's the parents that thank us again and again too, because they have such a good time with their kids and enjoy the tunes as much as their kids do! Plus, for the adults, it's just so much fun them to see their kids having such a good time."

In addition Bari on vocals and guitar the band features celebrated jazz musician Dred Scott on bass, who has appeared with Norah Jones and Rickie Lee Jones and Eric Halverson on drums, currently the drummer for the Broadway hit musical Xanadu.
