“Over the last three and a half years, Barnacle has been providing top-notch, high energy Celtic/sea folk music throughout all of New England. Based out of Westerly, R.I., this quartet has been able to compile over three centuries worth of various musical influences into one solid product. Everett and Jon both compose their own music as well as arrange music," she said of Barnacle's collaborative effort. "Tim composes his own percussion lines and orchestrates the amazing sound that we have. Everyone in the band arranges and improvises. "We can reach all age levels at a show. We're a very enthusiastic band when we play," said Reilly. "We interact with each other, listen to each other, and communicate that right to the audience. They pick up immediately and give it right back to us. We're often told by our audiences how much fun they had listening to us." ”Ian Abreu - Lime Light Magazine Contests/Events

Bio
Barnacle was formed in 2006 by Everett Brown of the former Wickford Express and Compass Rose; Tim Reilly, a sailor, scrimshander, interpretor, and percussionist extraordinaire; Mary Audette, a teacher and flautist with the idea of using sea music as a launching pad into other forms of folk music. Influences are quite ecletic -- Jennifer Cutting, Great Big Sea, Vend du Nord, Chris Norman and Michael Bressler to name a few. In a Barnacle concert it isn't unusual to see a variety of instruments played and over 400 years of music spanned -- tourdions, Playford, and even, on special occasion, the Rolling Stones.
