"Barnard & Brohm Joins Magna International Hoedown"

Canadian country music duo Barnard & Brohm has been invited to perform at the popular Magna “Wild, Wild West” Hoedown on Saturday, September 18, 2004. Barnard and Brohm will be sharing the stage with top Canadian country music performers such as George Canyon (runner-up of Nashville Star), Jimmy Rankin and rising country solo artist Karla Crawford.

“We’re not only ecstatic to be sharing the stage with George, Jimmy and Karla, but honoured to be involved in such a worthy community fundraiser” said Ian Brohm of Barnard and Brohm.

For more than fifteen years Frank Stronach, Magna founder and Chairman, has hosted what has become one of York Region's (Ontario) best-known and biggest community fundraising events.
What started out as a small local event, drawing about 1,000 people from the area to enjoy good food, dancing and live country music in support of local charities, the Hoedown has now become one of York Region's largest annual community fundraisers. The country fest has drawn thousands of people from the town of Aurora and surrounding communities, helping to raise more than CDN$4 million to date for local charities and community groups.

“We invite people to come out and enjoy a day of good food and great entertainment,” said Warren Barnard of Barnard and Brohm. “Get your tickets early, you don’t want to miss out on this one,” added Barnard.
"Wild, Wild West" Hoedown 2004 tickets are $60 each and are available through Ticketmaster, and at specific locations in Aurora, Newmarket, and York Region. For complete ticket listings and Hoedown 2004 information, visit the Hoedown website at www.hoedown.ca.

"Barnard and Brohm, "And Then Some" - CD Release Party"

Warren Barnard and Ian Brohm put in countless hours at
their Toronto studio, pouring their hearts into this
project; their brand new album "And Then Some". From
track one to track twelve, they've presented a vast range
of emotion, musical style, prolific writing, and pure
vocal talent. The first track on the album, "Ain't Like
Love", is an upbeat shuffle, featuring Ian on lead vocals.
Warren shows his stuff on their first single "And Then
Some", the title track. "Getting Over Monday" is the
party tune of the album, and the only song in which the
lead vocal part is shared between the two vocalists.
From the upbeat tunes above to the tender "Between I Do
and Goodbye", and "A Reason", Barnard and Brohm have
produced a fantastic record.
The CD release party was held on June 21, at 8:00. The
atmosphere was different from most, because it was held
at a theatre, rather than the common bar setting. The show
started at 8:00 with Country 93's Rob Hunter making the
introductions. Barnard and Brohm then played for a near
capacity audience, which wound up being insistent on an
encore. They came back out, and performed an acoustic
version of "Keep On Lovin' You", which is also featured on
the album. It ended the evening on an intimite note, and
added another element of class to an already splendid
evening.
After the show, the audience enjoyed a finger-food buffet,
while getting the opportunity to buy merchandise, get
autographs, and take photos with Country's hottest new duo.

I continue to look forward to big things coming from two of
Canada's finest. They are extraodinary human beings, and I
am honoured to know them. To Barnard and Brohm, I'd like
to wish the best of luck..."And Then Some".

"CD Review - BARNARD & BROHM - And Then Some"

BARNARD & BROHM
And Then Some
(Indie) BBMNB-0001
Produced by Nick Blagona and Barnard & Brohm
(12 Selections – Playing Time 44:38)
(Let Me Be) The Other Man / Getting Over Monday / What You Don’t Know / Does It Make You Happy / A Reason / Keep On Loving You / Ain’t Like Love / Somewhere Between I Do And Goodbye / And Then Some / Bull Ride / Jessely / She Was Talkin’ ‘Bout You

Barnard & Brohm, a relatively new act on the Canadian country scene, are Canada’s answer to the Nashville duo, Montgomery Gentry… well almost. In the case of Barnard & Brohm there’s a 14-year age spread between the Owen Sound-born Warren Barnard and his musical ‘mentor’ Ian Brohm, originally of Haliburton, Ontario. And Then Some marks the duo’s debut album, although they have already earned some national recognition with earlier singles released including the title track And Then Some, and tunes like Ain’t Like Love, Does It Make You Happy and the current chart winner She Was Talkin’ ‘Bout You, which has quickly become a ‘door opening’ tune at radio for the duo.

The album is heavily built around the songwriting of Steve Geddes, who has penned no less than eight of the albums dozen tracks. There are several highlight moments here including the bluesy ballad What You Don’t Know, the love song A Reason, and the torchy Somewhere Between I Do And Goodbye, all of which are given strong vocal efforts by Barnard & Brohm.

Listen also for some winning efforts in the rockin’, party song Getting Over Monday; the power ballad Keep On Loving You, and Jessely, which is given a Spanish flavored arrangement. The Ian Brohm-penned Bull Ride has been selected for the soundtrack of an upcoming Canadian Rodeo lifestyle TV program.

And Then Some was produced by Nick Blagona and recorded in Toronto studios. The current single, She Was Talkin’ ‘Bout You, an add-on to the album’s original songlist, was written and produced by Aidan Mason, (of Anne Murray band fame),with songwriting partner, Margot Glatt.

"The Crusty Critics Review of And Then Some"

The Crusty Critic is an independent reviewer who has been involved with the music industry as a recording studio designer, recording equipment inventor, recording engineer, and avid consumer of music for more than thirty years. He has listened to 'the good, the bad and the ugly'. Generally, he is disinclined to comment on a CD and not keen on writing reviews. However, as he says "Once in a while a really exceptional piece of music is completely overlooked. Those few I will comment on ".

Barnard and Brohm - "And Then Some"
If you want to hear some of the worst music written and sung, browse around the country music scene. Somebody's dog died, his truck disappeared along with his wife and his best friend etc. etc.
It was time to listen to country again. There might be something new out there. (Yeah right!).
I reached under the couch and pulled out the hand crank for the old CD player, wound it up and dropped in two country boys from Ontario.
Oh Oh! This could be worth the effort of listening. After a few tracks I realized this duo could sing with the best of them! The stars at the top should be looking over their shoulders.
Maybe it's just my taste in music but to my ears they are just a trifle over orchestrated, but that's just being a tad bitchy. Don't let it hold YOU back. This one is in my collection now.

BARNARD & BROHM

Country music has been described as the music of the people. It’s rootsy, humble and down to earth. What better way to also describe Barnard & Brohm. As Canada’s only Country male duo, Warren Barnard and Ian Brohm are riding high on the release of their debut album…“Barnard & Brohm and Then Some.” With over 50 Country radio stations across Canada playing Barnard & Brohm, it’s easy to see why this duo has much to look forward to.

“When we saw our single, “She Was Talkin’ ‘Bout You”, hit the Top 100 Canadian Country charts, it was a dream come true. We’ve waited a long time to put out this album and put it out right with some of Canada’s most talented musicians” said Brohm.

Influenced by such diverse artists as Ronnie Milsap and Alan Jackson, Barnard & Brohm bring a new sensibility to the traditional sounds of yesterday. Barnard & Brohm have performed with some of the most recognized names in Canadian country music like Gil Grand, John Landry and Jason McCoy, and some of the greats like Lorrie Morgan, Bill Anderson, Cal Smith and Gene Watson.

“Barnard & Brohm and Then Some”, produced by Nick Blagona, has six out of the 12 songs written by Barnard & Brohm. Writers such as Larry Wayne Clark, George Teren, Tim Buppert, Don Pfrimmer, Margot Glatt, and Aidan Mason penned the remaining tracks.

This independent release has already caught the ear of radio programmers, finding its way onto the charts in several major and secondary markets. “It’s just been amazing to watch our dreams become reality”. Barnard says, “…to go from words scratched down on paper to this is something we’ll always remember”.

Barnard and Brohm's list of nominations is growing! B&B received a nomination for Independent Country Album at the 2003 Canadian Independent Music Awards. In 2004, Barnard & Brohm was on the final ballot for the Ontario Country Music Awards in two categories - Rising Star and Group or Duo of the year. With a distribution agreement with Manitoba-based Sunshine Records, “Barnard and Brohm and Then Some” is now available nation-wide. With their CD across Canada, Barnard and Brohm are set to tour in early 2005.

Audiences at venues in Canada and the United States have already experienced the diversity of their unique material, which they deliver with the warmth, confidence and believability of the professionals that they are. Barnard & Brohm’s music runs the gamut from bittersweet love songs to sultry Spanish flavored ballads to charged up country rock, all this…And Then Some.
