Bio

Company: Barren River Trio, Ltd. Co. officially formed in 2010 by performing members Alex Day, Danny Moody, Andrew Varson, and managing member Stuart Westphal. The company has become profitable in it’s first year of operation and continues ahead unified towards developing the scalable small business around uniquely branded products that attract a broad and starving market in the music and entertainment industry.

The Barren River Trio brand is centered around strong American values such as freedom, family, personal quality, free enterprise, innovation, and hard work. These values can be heard in the music, seen in the artwork, felt in the experience, and understood when interacting with any of the members.

The debut album, American Folk is a collection of stories aimed to remind and encourage the world what it means to be an American.

Members:
Alex was born in Eastern Kentucky but spent most of his child hood in Columbus, Indiana. One of his earliest memories is of singing along to Fleetwood Mac with his parents. His father, originally from Eastern Kentucky, made sure Alex's musical foundations were rooted in true mountain music - Bluegrass and old time Folk. His mother introduced him to a blend of soft rock and acoustic pop - often encouraging him to try and match the artist's tones note for note. Alex spent most of his time deeply involved in football and competitive sports. Singing was a fun pastime but wasn’t taken seriously until his latter college years and he didn’t know a single chord on a guitar. He has since grown to love challenging himself to learn multiple instruments.

Danny was born in Long Island, New York and was raised in a family where music was an integral part of life. His mother’s father was a Drum & Bugle Core instructor in Manhattan while his father’s father played his way through the Army on the saxophone and clarinet. Danny’s father played drums in various southern rock bands in the early 80’s. The family moved to Tampa, FL when Danny was a young child. He picked up the guitar as an early teenager and played in various school performing groups through high school and college. He was also part of the vintage southern rock band, Gonzoboccio. After graduation Danny pursued his career in Historic Preservation and Restoration by restoring a 19th century home along the Barren River of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Andrew was born in Martinsville, VA with music in his blood. His grandparents were a songwriting duo; Grandpa wrote the tunes and Grandma put it down on paper for him. It was people like this that influenced and introduced him to di!erent genres and instruments. He was raised by his folks on good music and was always encouraged to learn more and push harder towards what he loves, which ultimately has resulted with the collaboration of the Barren River Trio.

Stuart was raised in Folsom, California near Folsom Prison where Johnny Cash had his historic performance. Music, entertainment, and business are deeply rooted into his framework. As a self-taught musician he performed in various groups during his younger years, hosted community events, and started a media company. Stuart holds various awards and a Master’s Degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University, one of the premier business and entertainment schools. He’s worked with some of today’s top producers and artists including Grammy Nominated Producer, Willie Baker who says “Stuart will be the next Clive Davis.”
