Barrows, from Medicine Hat, Alberta, was originally formed in 2008 as an evening hobby by Lee Newton, Owen Matz, and Allan Breitzkreitz in 2008. All three members had just recently moved to the city. That following year; Barrows played their first gig opening up for Alberta grinders Kataplexis. A few shows and many hours jamming out songs later, Barrows released their first demo. Shortly after Allan decided to leave the band due to a medical condition.
After some talks of the future of the band, Lee and Owen decided to keep the Breaking Wheel rolling. Joey Stannard was asked to sit behind the kit along with his fierce speed and blasting. Barrows had now taken their sound of structured chaos to new levels and after a couple years of planning and plotting have now completed their debut album, Swine Race.
