With Mullis on vocals guitar, banjo, mandola, harmonica & bodhran and Boyle on harmony vocals & upright bass, their sound is rooted in the music of the old world & the new world. They play traditional Irish & Scottish songs alongside Old-Time Appalachian, Bluegrass & Country songs. Their repertoire is all-encompassing, in addition to superb original songs, their set also includes songs by Dylan, Cash, Elvis, The Beatles, The Kinks Leadbelly, The Holy Modal Rounders & Gene Pitney.
Their 2003 CD, King Ludd is a collection of fourteen songs that include eleven meticulously crafted and performed Originals and Features Drummer, John Hiser adding delicate accompaniment on trap kit & percussion.
The Shots have performed at venues all over the Bay Area including The Great American Music Hall, The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, The Brookdale Bluegrass Festival, Rancho Nicasio & The Mystic Theater in Petaluma. They’ve performed live on San Francisco’s KFog’s Morning Show, West Coast Live, KPIG in Santa Cruz and KWMR in Point Reyes Station.
With Mullis & Boyle forming the nucleus of the band, they’ve worked & played with a roster of local talents that have served their music and sound well.
