Da Rocket Boy

Written By: BARRY TIERNEY

There he goes its the rocket boy
sailing over the sky
silouetted by the stars above
like a tear drop in his eye
Deep down he gets a feeling
A feeling that something is wrong
and the brain of the business man goes ching ching a ding a ding dong
and then my rocket boy is gone
chorus
Fare well to the rocket boy
we could not have loved you more
Farewell to the rocket boy
you have gone further
than you ever ever have gone before

Here he comes its the rocket boy
flying back from the moon
we will be reminising
and hugging and kissing him soon
but deep down he gets a feeling
a feeling that something is wrong
and the brain of the business man
goes ching ching a ding aling dong
and then my rocket boy was gone

chorus

Where are you now
my rocket boy
do you dance in the misty moon light
I can hear you calling for me
in the heat of the Cork city night
but deep down I get this feeling
this feeling that you are not really gone
and to hell with the business man who's brain goes ching ching a ding aling dong
because my rocket boy is never gone

losers lounge

Written By: BARRY TIERNEY

THE COP IS DRINKING COFFEE AND TRYING FOR TO FREE HIS BITTER MIND

THE HIPPY IS RECITING POEMS AND TRYING TO FIND THE MEANING OF HIS LIFE

THE GAMBLER HE IS AT THE DOOR SEARCHING THROUGH POCKETS TORN AND LIGHT

AND THIS IS ALL GOING ON IN THE LOSERS LOUNGE TONIGHT

THE COP LOOKS AT HIS WATCH AND HE DROPS HIS HEAD AND STARES AT HIS SHOES

THE GAMBLER HAS LOST ALL HIS MONEY HE SCREAMS I WAS BORN TO LOOSE

THE NEW WAITRESS HAS GOT THE JOB HER PRETTY FACE BEAMS WITH DELIGHT

BUT THAT WONT BE THE CASE FOR LONG IN THE LOOSERS LOUNGE TONIGHT

THE HIPPIES PHILOSOPHIES ARE CONTRADICTORY AND CONFUSED

THE COP DREAMS OF HARDCOURT STREET AND THE BATON ROUGE

THE GAMBLERS WIFE IS LOYAL AND SHE WONDERS IF HE WILL EVER SEE THE LIGHT

WELL IF HE DOES HE WONT BE IN THE LOSERS LOUNGE TONIGHT.

THE PASSING CARS MAKE DIAMONDS IN THE WINDOWS WHILE THE HIPPY TAKES A PUFF

THE COP STROKES HIS SILVER HAIR AND FEELS LIKE HE HAS HAD ENOUGH

THE NEW WAITRESS IS CRYING HARD NEAR A BURNING NEON LIGHT

THE GAMBLER WAITS FOR THE 3.45
THE COP IS SICK OF FIGHTING CRIME
THE WAITRESS FORGETS HOW TO SMILE
THE HIPPIE HANGS FOR ANOTHER LITTLE WHILE

IN THE LOSERS LOUNGE TONIGHT

Miltown Malbay

Written By: Barry tierney

Mill Town Malbay
verse 1

I was in Miltown Malbay for the ceol and the crack,

with beer in me hand and the sun on my back,

I never thought when I left my heart would be beguiled

by the fairhaired young german with a sweet rougish smile.

verse 2

The polkas were pumping and the craic it was good,

On the bridge by the river I gladly there stood,

I turned my head slowly and just chance ,

a fair hair and blue eyes I caught at a glance.

verse 3

She was not dancing.singing or drunk,

she was with two Ameircans and a queer looking punk,

But over these fine girls she rose by a mile,

the fair haired young German with the big rougish smile.

verse 4
I waged through the crowd like a racing black steed,

I was duking and diving at ferocious speed,

But I was too late for they queued single file

Just to talk with the german with a sweet roguish smile.

verse 5

And then it was clear that my luck had run out ,

So I drowned my sorry in pints of cold stout,

And there I did stay my heart sorely beguiled,

With the fair haired young German with a sweet roguish smile.

verse 6

It was about 12 O Clock boys and the beeer it was high,

but who did I catch from the side of my eye,

Says I what you having 'a vodka and lime'

Said the fairhaired young german with the sweet rougish smile.

vese 7

So I left MilTown Malbay that town by the sea

I was not sad but full of glee

For now I'm honeymooning on the banks of the Rhine

with the fairhaired young German with the big roaming smile.

Alone Among Millions Tonight

Written By: Barry Tierney

I saw her on the subway
She was smiling with her eyes
She looked into me soul
But dare not criticize
And we pulled up to the plaza
She departed elegantly slow
And she dreamed of walking with me
Through the Broklyn snow

She came to me on Mathew street
Upon the cobble stones
In a tavern they call the Cavern
The home of rock and roll
The flare lit up the Flanagan's
As she led me through the door
People stared but we did not care
As she waltzed around the floor

Chorus

I'm alone amongst millions tonight
I'm alone among millions
In a city worth trillions
Alone among millions tonight

She came to me in the morning
Just befiore the dawn
Proclaiming the Messiah
has been born
The light above the golden town
Led us to the promised land
And there was he with lights of the city
in the palm of his hand

Just before midnight
She came to me again
Contemplating limbo
purgatory and hell
She consulted Abraham
He told her don't hold your breath
She contemplated Emigrating
Due to the fear of death

She stood alone on Patrick's Street
Blood in her eyes and chains on her feet
Her childfen scatterd from the Hudson to the Tweed
all because of some fools greed

the rate of the century

Written By: barry tierney

The ratrace of the century
Written performed by Barry Tierney

Chorus
Its the ratrace of the century
The only place I want to be
Its the ratrace of the century
You know ill get there eventually

Verse 1
This aint no song about the cold city streets
Or about the lady’s poetry
This aint no song about the Mersey or the Lee
But I will get there eventually
{chorus}
Verse 2
Its not a ballad of some young lovers tiff
Or about the blue eyed lady I did
This aint no song about the wild Irish coast
Or the red haired lady I love the most
{chorus}
This aint a lament of some Franciscan dude
Or the town of rags and rouge
This aint song about the comedian
Or the valley of the rising sun
{chorus}
This aint no song about rock and roll
This aint no song about rhythm and soul
This aint no song about being born to loose
Or the lady who sings the blues
{chorus}

London

Written By: Barry Tierney

London There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl

London’s burning shadows in the sky.
London’s burning shadows in the sky

The artist he’s faithful
But he is earnest in his ways
While London burns shadows in the skies

Coffins full of poets line the streets
The slates on the old buildings start to weep
The smoke clouds are rolling in
From the sugar factory fire

Alleluia…….
Alleluia resounds from rubble that once were streets
Alleluia
While the rats recited strange poetry at their feet

The gypsy she dries her crying eyes
While the queen plays kitchen in disguise
And the Viking ships of Norway
Sail down the foggy Thames side
And London burning red shadows in the sky

Alleluia…resounds through rubble that once were streets
Alleluis….While the rates recited poetry at their feet

Susan

Written By: Barry Tiereny

Susan,
Oh I’m loosing my mind I’m wondering where are you tonight
, Where are you tonight are you alone far away from home or are you the Princess of Starlight Susan,
Oh I’m loosing my mind I’m wondering where are you tonight
Where are you tonight are you alone far away from home or are you the Princess of Starlight.
Remember when men were men and we were children,
well if we found some butterflies you would not let me kill them
or you would let them go to be free until the summer days of golden yellow memories.
So meet me by the Autumn leaves and the blue moon bursting through the trees.
Oh the stranger on the shore as he gentle weeps
no matter what he does he can’t sleep
and don’t mind the fools from far away honking their horns till dusk to day.
Come on babe dance down Patrick Street the ghosts of Father Mathew we will meet.
