Bio

Barthelemy Corbelet is a 28 year old solo artist.

Originally from Normandie, Barth studied anthropology at the Sorbonne. Now, he lives in Bastille (Paris), where he used to work for Cash Converters once. There, down the road, he bought all his second hand equipment: a drum machine, some ancient keyboards and an analog 8-track tape recorder.

After some other dubious jobs, Barth worked for Warner Publishing as a A&R, but decided to quit.
He was involved in making experimental and short movies. And he is still involved in the making of his videos.

Suddenly he had all this time on his hands to play around with music at home. While writing music for TV commercials, he started working on his own material. The result was a marvellous, eccentric blend of fairground music, easy listening, dub and dadaist lyrics which became his debut album "Essence Of Giraffe".

After sending 10 copies to a few exclusive labels, a strange e-mail correspondence caught the attention of former Food Records boss Andy Ross for his new label: Bossmusic. Food Records was the label of Blur, Jesus Jones, Idlewild etc.
"Essence Of Giraffe" was released in the UK in July 2002, but not in France yet.

Barth played in London with his band (Camden Barfly, 93 Feeteast, Metro…) and supported The Libertines, Shack, etc.
He recorded lives and talk shows on radio for BBC, SBN and XFM (John Kennedy’s Explosure).
Barth supported the Pretenders on their UK tour and in Paris (Le Bataclan). He recorded five songs and an interview for Chris Douridas’ radio show : New Ground on KCRW (Los Angeles).

Inevitably, the bedroom phase doesn’t last forever: Barth decided to record his second album in studio, together with Mike Pelanconi (Graham Coxon, Gregory Isaac) who co-produced the project. From these sessions, Bossmusic released two singles in 2003 : "I Got You In My Dream" and "The Last Wig".

Barth is currently working on new material, and looking for a new deal to release his second album : "Under The Trampoline".

Taken from the album, the track "I Got You In My Dream" features on the late compilation "Le Nouveau Rock’ N’Roll Français" (Chronowax Records / V2).
