Lyrics

The Caterpillar

Written By: Bart Thrupp

It’s early in the morning; you can almost hear the prison guard sing
It’s raining in the valley, flowers bloom that nobody will ever see.
A modest tasteful wedding, I pledge my entire heart to you
The first step off to learning on a path that was here long before you

Listen now, this won’t take too long...
Trees fall in the woods, and nobody ever knows
Clouds disappear and we wonder where they go
So I’ll tell you this one thing, the rest should just unfurl
What you might call a butterfly, a caterpillar calls the end of the world

Woken up by sunlight, kind of glad I forgot to close the blinds
The valley in the early hours provides no better place to be alive
And as I preach enjoy your life, still I find I am one who counts the days
Don’t feel like it’s beyond your window, constructively misbehave

You may one day ask yourself, how much do I give and how much do I take
And you may one day feel like you’ve been walking around more asleep then awake
And you may one day realise you had it in you all along
And everything you see, you touch, you believe just may be wrong

Listen now, this won’t take too long...
Trees fall in the woods, and nobody ever knows
Clouds disappear and we wonder where they go
So I’ll tell you this one thing, the rest should just unfurl
What you might call a butterfly, a caterpillar calls the end of the world

Girl in the Fishbowl

Written By: Bart Thrupp

I really dig your mirrored writing,
Did you know that I can do that too?
And I can solve a Rubik’s cube,
But oh my god, I just can’t figure out how to say this to you.

Would I fit in among your flowers?
I’d be happy just to be inside the room
And it’s a shame about the things we cannot change
Like I’m 17, and you’re 22.

It’s a shame about our ages
I know you feel it to,
When I like Disney movies, Thai food,
And giant robots too.

Here I am,
In love with the girl in the fishbowl,
But I’m the one, who’s captured here outside the glass,
I don’t want to be the one to fog up the window,
But it seems like I’m the only one I know,
In love with a girl in the fishbowl.

Despite this new revelation,
I still doubt we’d be two, against the grain.
And if you ask me, we’re perfect together
Except that you like star wars even more than me
If you happen to fall in love with me
It doesn’t matter the time or day,
You know where to find me
And all I’ll have to say

Here I am,
In love with the girl in the fishbowl,
But I’m the one, who’s captured here outside the glass,
I don’t want to be the one to fog up the window,
But it seems like I’m the only one I know,
In love with a girl in the fishbowl.

The Last Man Alive

Written By: Bart Thrupp

There’s nothing more I like Sunday afternoon,
Than jumping into my van and visiting you
We go where we want and do what we want to do.

But it’s always the park it’s in your heart and mine
And we walk around there as the daylight dies
I tell you how good you are for me and how I try to be for you.

Then it’s off to our place near timberland
And there’s a live set playing from an indie band
I love my life and I love what we’re about to do

I’ve been punched in the face; I can feel it in my jaw
And you don’t want to know me, anymore
The seasons change along and so does your mind
I’m alone down here, I don’t understand
I’m like the last man alive in the world, at the end
But this is what you want and this is how things will stay
But thank you all the same

I think about where I’m going to go from here,
And I’ll be honest I am young and although it’s unclear
My future and I will happily move on

But I think about how nice it is with you
It was great, we were mates, we where lovers too
But we are young, love and life goes on and on.

But my priorities are not just staying alive
I can live, I can learn, I can grow in my life
I am not the last man at the end of the world
I am here, I am now, and I got dumped by a girl.

And it feels like
I’ve been punched in the face; I can feel it in my jaw
And you don’t want to know me, anymore
The seasons change along and so does your mind
I’m alone down here, I don’t understand
I’m like the last man alive in the world, at the end
But this is what you want and this is how things will stay
But thank you all the same
