Bio

Basement Lung is the high school band of brothers, Don (lead vocals) and Ray Marasigan (drums), their next-door neighbor Macky Sevilla (guitars), and schoolmates Choy Guerra (guitars and vocals) and Menel Emralino (bass and vocals). It started as a group of barrio kids in the pre-internet รข€˜80s jamming songs from their older siblings' record collection and the punk and new wave music which was new at the time. After high school, college and life happened. Careers and family life became priorities and rock n' roll took a back seat. But during occasional reunions and holiday breaks they would kick out the jams and play to relatives and friends. After more than 25 years the band has been reactivated and has been playing shows in the bustling Manila indie music scene with a couple of singles getting airplay on radio. In Ray's basement in Marikina, Basement Lung recorded a collection of mid-fi indie pop tunes set to a background of gloriously noisy guitars, melodic basslines, tight beats and crafty arrangements. Candelaria the debut album (named after their hometown) and the music video Tanong (directed by JC Gellidon) was launched in Saguijo on November 27, 2015.
