BASIC

Eric Williams (BASIC) is a U.S. Navy sailor and husband of 4 years. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, BASIC (23 years old), was raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia from the age of 2 years old. His love and passion for music began at an early age when he started to play the trumphet during his elementary years in school. He participated in the jazz band, concert band, marching band and church band up until his junior year in high school. This is when he took interest in the other element of music which is rapping and writing. The stage name BASIC originated from the brand name of notebooks named "Basic" that he always carried around and wrote his poems and lyrics in. The name was given to him by a long time friend of his. He was known around school as the "guy who drops the beat" for the local rap-stars that would often freestyle during lunchtime as he was a very talented beat-boxer and still is! Only a select few knew of the lyrics he constantly wrote in his book, until March 21st 2008 when he recorded his first song and never looked back from that point forward. The music that BASIC creates is inspirational and feel good music that is made especially for the lovers of pure Hip-Hop. All of his songs are filled with witty lyrics, catchy hooks, and underlying themes/stories as appose to some of the music that is made today. His music can be enjoyed by both the young and old generation, placing him in class with not many other artists. His influences are Lupe, Common, Wale, Rakim, J.Cole, Joe Budden, Nas, etc. BASIC has performed at venues in Virginia Beach, Richmond, and also while he was deployed he performed numerous times for his entire naval ship. He has gotten high recognition from showcase judges to various music websites. One of his first songs recorded in 2008 recieved radio play in 2009 for a local competition which received respect from local callers and radio personel. His only mission is to help keep real rap alive!!!
