Bio

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; steel town, sports town, beer town… Pittsburgh is known for a lot of things, but typically not for its musical contributions to society. Upcoming act, Basick Sickness plans to change that. Taking notes from many different genres of musical acts, the group brings that “rabid pack of wolves” feel to the Pittsburgh music scene. With their infectious hooks and melodic yet rowdy style, the act is preparing a large scale tour of the mid-west; from college campuses to your favorite dive bar. Vocalist; Basick states, “we’re looking to ignite a fire, wake people up and spread the sickness before it’s too late”. With this, I present the Basick Sickness.

The history of the group follows many different paths and logically leads into 2011 with something new and fresh for the city. Something thought to be taboo. Something completely destroyed in the late 90’s and early 2000’s by a slew of pretentious copy-cat acts. We’re talking the combination of Hip-Hop and Rock.

From 2006-2009, Basick Sickness released 2 LP’s and one remix EP. 2006 showed the debut LP; “The Sickness is Spreading”. This release marked the beginning of the hip-hop side of the band. Making many hip-hop fanatics turn their heads at the lyrical content and well produced soundtrack to the madness, it was obvious that something interesting was happening. In 2008, Basick Sickness released the landmark LP; “Get Some”, followed up in 2009 by a remix version shortly after. Get Some is still considered to be one of the most original and best local hip-hop releases in the city of Pittsburgh. Listening to this LP made some people scratch their heads a little. The advent of live drums, heavy metal guitars and distorted vocals confused many hip-hop fans, but immediately gained noticed from the rock scene in Pittsburgh. Live shows increased, crowd size increased, merchandise sales increased. The band was definitely in their element.

Continuing on to 2011, the band has been in heavy practice mode, doing minimal shows for months. Writing, recording, evaluating… The result: “Before it’s Too Late”. “Before it’s Too Late” takes everything Basick Sickness did in the past and increased it by 10-fold. It’s Louder, stronger, more aggressive, deeper, and even more outside the box. With a positive start to the record with “Fight for the Inches”, it gives the listener a comprehensive feeling as to where the band is in relation to music, life and where they desire to be. To quote the track “Attack”; “Wait for the perfect time, then attack”. The perfect time is at hand. Basick Sickness is now.
