Bio
Sam "The Basket QASE" Rodriguez has always had a passion for modern music. Born on Chicago's northwest side, he has been influenced by the greats, and has worked with them. Basket's original compositions combine unique lyricism over odd-metric Boom Bap, and also integrates jazz harmony and arranging techniques, giving his brand of Hip Hop a post-modern sound.
The Basket QASE founded the underground hip-hop crew: "The Storytellas" circa 1993... The Storytellas Crew then made an important impact on the Chicago hip-hop scene in the mid-90's with a series of now legendary hip hop parties, most notably: Storytellas Present: Chapter 1 the Untold Story (at Yo Mama's Cafe June 22nd 1996 - see original flyer in pics). After high school, he became an accomplished student of jazz and the double bass.
