Bateleurs

 Swindon, England, GBR
BandFolkRock

Bateleurs are an exciting contemporary Folk/Rock band. Central to the sound are the distinctive duel lead vocals & harmonies. The bands set is delicate in parts, raucous in others but the intensity in each song, matched by band’s obvious delight in entertaining, never waver with a change in style or tempo. This superb level of musicianship, allied to a hypnotic set list will thrill and enthrall in equal measure.

Biography

Daryl’s vocals are smooth with an Irish inflection, Sean’s voice is tender with a plaintiff, jagged edge, which cuts right through and suits their music perfectly.

In 2011 they brought in a permanent and accomplished rhythm section with Chris McCormack (drums & percussion) and Nick Wall (Bass) joining the band.

Additionally to help broaden the authentic sound. Bateleurs employ numerous instruments in addition to the standard Guitar, Bass & Drums. These include mandolin, fiddle, ukulele, harmonica, recorder, piano & cajon.

The band are popular on the South West music scene and are veterans of Summer festivals such as Swindon’s Big Arts Day, SOLAM, Treefest (Westonbirt) & Oxjam.

As well as their own brand of comtemporary folk rock Bateleurs cover songs from a diverse range of new and established artists in their own inimitable style. They have an additional strength in their songwriting.

Songs of a high quality that sits comfortably alongside better-known covers. They have been favourably compared to The Waterboys, Mumford and Son, The Levellers, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan.

Discography

In Summer 2010 they released their 'NewDay Rising' EP which sold out quickly and tracks posted online generated immediate and overwhelmingly positive feedback.

In August 2011, Bateleurs released their debut Album ‘All In The Past’ to critical acclaim. The album is available to download on iTunes, Amazon & Bandcamp, and has attracted a lot of regional press attention and airplay.
