"Batida Diferente"

Batida Diferente are a quartet that blend the tranquil sounds of traditional Brazilian music in reworkings of timeless jazz standards and other covers. The lead vocals, Kim Scudera sings with a bluesy folk-like tone that is decorated with jazzy vocal styled licks and melodies. Batida Diferente are Kim Scudera on lead vocals, Rob Orwin on keyboards and wind synth, Mark Lopes on bass and guitar and Mike Wingo on drums and percussion.

Batida Diferente ("A Different Beat") is a Washington DC jazz quartet -- Kim Scudera, vocals; Rob Orwin, keyboard and wind instruments; Jody Myers, bass; Greg Discher, percussion.  Batida Diferente plays original compositions and American and Brazilian classics with colorful modern energy and rhythm, featuring new lyrics and text settings in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Italian: fresh arrangements, from off the beaten track, that make audiences want to dance!
