Bio
Battle Maiden is a trio playing mainstream rock music from New York City. They’ve been described as “a sonic blast of passionate musicianship and energetic live shows.”
The energy of living in New York is exactly what fuels their stage act and song writing. Battle Maiden’s lyrics often refer to the glories of living in Manhattan. Their song Big Apple Dreams is about exactly that.
Having just finished their first EP “Ride with Us,” the band is on a Fall/Winter release party. They are a featured band playing the CMJ 2014 Music Marathon at Drom on Avenue A and E. 6th Street in NYC's East Village on October 25th.
Maude W. is the poet extraordinaire behind the fluid magic that is Battle Maidens lyrics and the thundering vibrations blaring from the Bass axe that she swings with rhythmic waves. Her dynamic stage presence is reminiscent of the raw rebel herself, Joan Jett; with the wall of sound booming bass of Rush’s Geddy Lee; delivered with the forceful punch of John Entwistle. Maude, describes her songwriting style as motivating. “I want to energize people. I always have the female voice in my lyrics and I write about the surprises and joys of newfound motherhood, but a lot of my lyrics get political from time to time and hopefully I’m making a statement that people can relate to; female or male.”
Joe T. the rockin' guitar force jams with a bombastic sound reminiscent of late 60s to mid 70s monster rock bands and is influenced by the likes of Jimmy Page, Keith Richards and the wild sounds of Alvin Lee.
Roger C bangs the drums in an arm blustering flurry reminiscent of the wild man style of The Who’s Keith Moon; the gritty driving viciousness of The Sex Pistols Paul Cook; with the funny face making, tongue biting flare of master showman and monster beat maker, Trey Cool.
Battle Maiden is a band that plays music for
music’s sake and the honesty in that rubs off on their fans. This makes their
rock shows one hell of a time you don’t want to miss.
