Bio

Clayton Brandt, Chris Gibson, Andrew Szczurek, and John Kerber met at Haverford College in the fall of 2013. It didn’t take long before the four realized that they all played different instruments, and in just a few weeks were regularly practicing and writing songs together. Bazmati Vice was born out of this shared love for music, and ever since that fall, they’ve been focusing on improving their sound and performing live in the Philadelphia music scene.

By the fall of 2015, the group had played a few gigs on and around Haverford’s campus, but it wasn’t until adding guitarist Chris Jackowski that Bazmati Vice achieved its completed form. Over the past two years, the band has moved farther away from their roots and performed shows in Fishtown, Manayunk, Ardmore, and Center City Philadelphia.

Bazmati Vice is a unique blend of blues, funk, classic rock and progressive rock. These genres wind in and out of every song, keeping things fresh and surprising. Drawing inspiration from Led Zeppelin, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gary Clark jr, Phish, Tool, and many others, Bazmati Vice’s sound is a testament to both the different musical tastes and the creative energy of every member of the group. All five players contribute their individual instrumental expression to every song to create a truly unique sound.

Performing live shows and writing inspired music are the two main focuses of Bazmati Vice. Gigging in the Philadelphia area has pushed the band not only to perform at a higher standard but also to produce fresh new music that is as fun to listen to as they are to perform. The band is currently working on a self-produced EP and has more gigs than ever planned for the Spring of 2017 in the Philadelphia area.
