It started innocently enough.
Back in 1998, the BBQ Kings whipped together a few sets for a Christmas staff party. But the players brought so many musical ingredients & ideas to the mix, they realized this band was too much fun to stop.
And once you catch them live, you’ll be glad they’ve continued to evolve their trademark rootsy, rockin’ style.
They’ve recorded two CDs - “Mixed Grill”(2002) and “Beyond Acceptable” (2005). But it’s their energetic live shows in clubs, festivals & private parties that continue to build a devoted fan base in the Maritimes.
It could be the rollicking Cajun stomp of “Toot Toot” (test-driven on many a sweaty dancefloor), the soulful original “Caught Out In The Rain”, the countrified “Eight-Track Mind”, or the stadium rocker, “Innocent Man”.
It could be a classic which the band subjects to its patented musical BBQ process – cooking the original until it emerges as a tasty new morsel (how about a mash-up between Neil Diamond & Neil Young ? A Bruce Cockburn samba ? A Leonard Cohen rocker ? ).
