Artist Bio
Hearon Records recording artist BB Queen, received the 2008 Jus' Blues Award for Best female blues artist.
BB grew up on the East Side of Detroit Mi., starting her music career at the age of 5, singing, dancing and playing her clarinet in juke joints and blind pigs with her younger sister and dad. Probably the same places John Lee Hooker frequented. Inspired by watching BB King perform on a television show, BB picked up the guitar at age 13, (literally watching how he placed his fingers). The next week catching Jimi Hendrix, amazed at the stage presence and charisma of them both,Queen put together her own band with younger sister on drums and started playing local clubs, talent shows, wedding receptions, teen reporter gigs skating parties etc. All while attending high school. BB graduated at the age of 16. Her desire to perform and constant persistence, lead to meet and tour with the gospel group "Temptation Rise". Acting as band leader, and lead guitarist, BB was featured with the group on recording sessions as well as numerous television and radio broadcasts. BB Queen tours extensively, nationally as well as internationally, performing on the same stages as some of " The Legends: BB King, KoKo Taylor, Ike Turner, Lil Milton Campbell, Etta James, Johnny Taylor, Bobby Rush, Marvin Sease, Latimore, Ernie Isley, Marcia Ball, Mel Waiters, Al Green, Bo Diddley, Lonnie Brooks, Dramatics, Floaters, Maya Angelou..... Blessed enough to play such prestigious venues as Lincoln Park Center, Carnegie Hall, Monterey Bay Blues Festival, BB King's Club Hollywood, Ca., Hot August Jam, House of Blues, Shirley Mae's Cafe, Dave's CC Club, Jimmy's, Hollywood Park Casino, Greektown Casino, Motor City Casino, KoKo Taylor's Celebrity Club, Buddy Guy's Birthday Jam, The Last Chance, All Women's Blues and Gospel Fest In Italy, touring 22 cities, the list can go on and on..... BB also takes time to hone acting skills, appearing in soon to be released documentary, that chronicles the blues scene in Detroit past entitled "Across Hasting Street", Presented in Comcast Special on BET with Norman Thrasher(Moonlighters), Featured on FOX Network "The Working Women's Special", Celebrity Judge on Canadian television series "You Can Be A Star". Performing as "Guest Artist" twice on the now syndicated "Jenny Jones Show" viewed by 4 million people, leading to a third visit for BB with 7 year old daughter Rasheedah nationally known as "Lil KoKo" guesting on the " Getting Jiggy with Jenny Episode" (Tearing the House Down!!!). Singing " You Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog".. Recordings include CD entitled "Everybody's Favorite Qualified and Able" with special guest appearance by Grammy Award Winner and the "Queen of The Blues herself KoKo Taylor". BB Queen is currently in negotiations, to host a remote blues television show, featuring artist past, present, today, up and coming etc. Coast to Coast, Across the sea's BB Queen has proven to be tireless, professional, energetic and determined to "Keep the Blues Alive" Living and Loving what she does, This is her passion, there is no turning back BB Queen is now on Hearon
