Black Child Red and The Desert Tribe embraces and fuses traditional soul and classic rock with elements of world, latin, and african grooves. His lyrics and message embody environmental awareness, indigenous and human rights, and LOVE. His music cannot be categorized, for he himself cannot be categorized. His own ethnic mix of African, Native American, and Central American ancestry cannot help but come out through his music, which can best be described as RED EARTH SOUL.

Black Child Red is a singer/songwriter/blues guitarist. He has written and performed with numerous musicians over the past 10 years, including: The Black Eyed Peas, Quese IMC, Burning Star, Olmeca, the list could go on and on. But Black Child Red is not about dropping names; he's about Revolution and Change through Music.

John Bess was a founding member of critically acclaimed Stoner/Rock/Doom band Spiritu, recording with Jack Endino (Nirvana,Soundgarden, Mudhoney) and touring Europe opening for Clutch on Metal Hammer Magazine's 2003 MonsterGroove Tour. John attended Musician's Institute in Los Angeles and currently studies privately with virtuoso jazz bassist Todd Johnson.

Miguel Velasquez has spent the last several years touring and performing with great musicians from Austin and New Mexico. His impeccable sense of time and tasty grooves are the foundation of the Desert Tribe.
