Bio

Ken lives in the Texas Hill Country with his wife and partner, JudyAnn, and a houseful of children. They live on Bear Creek and together became Bear Creek WILDERNESS.

Kens passion for music started with guitar at his grandmas knee and was fueled by his daddys playin and singin country & western in Corpus Christi. In the old days Mama and Papa Padgett, his great grandparents, played barn dances and entertained all around the Hillsboro area, Kens birth place.

Ken worked as hard as he played as a mechanic. He went back to school and began a new career in computers. .

The best chapter of JudyAnns amazing life, started when she married Ken Lloyd in 2000. They soon began performing together and she was blessed with the gift of harmony. She adds her touch by singing, songwriting, playing tambourine, bodhran, mountain dulcimer and other odds and ends. She has a relaxed and fun loving air about her that works well with Kens more serious nature. Her voice is a unique blend of sultry and silky. WILDERNESS is slowly adding her original songs to their eclectic mix of Americana, Celtic, Country, Blues, Folk, Rock and Traditional pieces.

JudyAnns life has been a wild ride. Especially wild was the chapter of Sommer Shadoe, (her stunt life name). She would actually ride standing in the back of a pickup truck while it was driven on two wheels. Stunt Touring was how she met and fell in love with Texas. After ten years, she turned her stunt costumes in for an Army Uniform and became a medic. She loved being a soldier and finally got back to singin' in a Church Choir. Soon, motherhood and care for her grandmother rendered her unable to travel and she had to leave the Army. She worked at a hospital in Laguna Beach California for a few years and eventually moved to Riverside, California. She kept singin' at Church and eventually became a respiratory therapist. She was blessed to work with vets at a VA hospital in Loma Linda until she met Ken.

JudyAnn grew up in Southern California. She was raised by her grandparents in Sunnymead, a tiny town grown out of potato fields and the influence of an Air Force Base.

Her earliest memories are singing with her mother and going to the beach. She loved ridin in her mamas red convertible and going to bars with her. JudyAnn would dance on the bartops and sing at the top of her lungs! Hmmm.

In elementary school, JudyAnn loved choir. They did a crazy mix of show tunes and Christian music. She sang a solo in every concert they performed. Her favorite concerts were at the famous Mission Inn of Riverside California. Funny how things work out, says JudyAnn, Ken and I spent our wedding night at the Mission Inn!

Most of all, JudyAnn loved listenin' to her Grandaddy play guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica and ukulele. They spent hours together pickin' singin' and whistlin' old country classics like "Down in the Valley". Her Grandaddy would be real proud that his little JudyAnn carried on his love for music.
