THE BEARDS

The band was founded in October 2005 between Padua and Venice with the aim of creating a
new genre that later will be defined as Spaghetti Southern' Rock.
The Beards play absolutely live and they are characterized by an original, dirt and powerful
sound. The Beards has a strong cohesive rhythmic session and two solo voices.
This sound mainly refers to the rural American Blues (Country Blues), acoustic music born in the
fields of the South of the States and electrified in the second half of the 40s.
The arrangements and compositions take inspiration instead from a huge spectrum of genres,
from classical music to the popular Italian / Venetian, the variety of contaminations are used to
create images that are a complement for the stories.
In 2006, after a series of preparative dates throughout the northern Italy including some
national importance festivals , The Beards flown to the United States of America for `Mephisto
Potato Sauce” US preview tour. In that occasion, the album was presented in a special limited
edition called "The Seeds to The South" or "Seeds for the South". During the U.S. tour, the band
drove through 11 states, travelling for 10,000 miles and selling many copies. The band achieved
a great success, sharing the stage with major artists such as Ike Stubblefield, Tony Tyler, Bruce
Hampton, Caroline Aiken, Dirty Dozen Brass Band. The group performed some of the most
important stages on the East Coast: Atlanta (Smith 'olde Bar), Nashville (Legends Corner, Tootsie,
The Stage), Charleston (Pourhouse), Charlotte (Visulite Theater), Cleveland (Bluesnote), New York
(Terrablues) and others. In their journey they met Levon Helm, The Band legendary drummer,
they discussed about the possibility of recording their second album in his Woodstock studio.
The Beards have also recorded Diggin 'Fingers, a collection of old songs that are the music roots of The Beards (included songs of Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, The Band and other) and Caledonia Avalanche
Blues and a song dedicated to and about The Band, the lyrics were written by american artist TJ
Cole.
