"Catching The Beat With Beatnomics"

The music industry is in constant progression with great artist such as Rick Ross, T.I., and Kendrick Lamar, but behind those songs we all sing and memorize lyrics to there is a beat. Most of the time the beat and instrumental is what makes the song, and Beatnomics has been doing this for years, making sure that South Florida is on The Radar. So we caught up with Beatnomics for this exclusive interview.

The Radar: How long have you been in the game? When did you begin this journey?

Beatnomics: Beatnomics Production was founded by Olubumi “Boom” “Laygus” Adeboye Jr. and Remy ” Remy J” Joseph in 2000. We met through in high school through a friend who happened to be Remy J’s cousin. Tron ” BTron” Lippett joined the team in 2008 and we knew him for a while from coming to our first studio setup on the Eastside of Fort Lauderdale. We’re based out of Fort Lauderdale, Fl/Broward County.

The Radar: What have been some of your high points so far in your career?

Beatnomics: We have established ourselves as the premier production team in the city and in South Florida. We’ve worked with different artists in all of South Florida from Palm Beach to Dade County.

The Radar: What is the key thing to focus on while you’re in the industry?

Beatnomics: Being different when it comes to our music. Sometimes producers, just like rappers, tend to get caught up with the latest trends of music. We work on improving our craft and not just abandoning it to produce what’s hot. Our sound will make a mark in the industry. It’s all about sifting through the noise and red tape of the music business. Also, we work more on creating hooks along with our beats. Now labels are looking for an “all in one” production which makes sense in a way because producers know how to bring out the best in their beats.

The Radar: What would be somethings you would tell someone following your lead to get to where you are?

Beatnomics: Stay humble and forge good business relationships. Make sure your production is sonically sound meaning the overall audio quality needs to be industry standard. Also, think outside the box.

The Radar: What are some of your current projects you are working on now?

Beatnomics: We are currently working with an up and coming artist by the name of Rob Allen who is a R&B singer who’s a mixture of Miguel, Justin Timberlake and John Mayer. Check him out on Facebook or ReverbNation under the same name.

We’re working with a Reggae DJ/Rapper by the name of dotVar who is making a name for himself in South Florida. You can find him on http://artistecard.com/dotvar

We’re also working with an up and coming rapper named D.I.A Da Veteran. You can find him on diadaveteran.com/Homepage.html

The Radar: Where do you see yourself in the future? What should we be expecting from Beatnomics in the near future?

Beatnomics: For the future, we see ourselves as a Brand. Beatnomics is a brand and not just a production team so we will be expanding ourselves to different opportunities outside of just music production. Dr.Dre already got one up on us with his headphones…lol. In the near future we are working on placements and networking as much as possible so that means a lot of traveling!

The Radar: How can someone find you and contact you for production?

Beatnomics: For production for labels and management, you can contact us at laygus@beatnomics.com or info@beatnomics.com. For unsigned artists or artists working on demos/mixtapes, you can go to www.beatnomics.com to lease beats. You can also find us on Facebook under Beatnomics. Twitter: @beatnomics. Also we would like to thank The Radar for the love, we appreciate you all.
