Despite what it sounds like, there are no samples here. Much like DJ Sawka, Beatropolis' musicianship is so on-point that they approach the uncanny valley from the wrong direction. Intricate house, funk, and acoustic riffs combine with Ariah Firefly's ethereal vocals, referencing both Portishead and Juno Reactor as they head towards the dancefloor. The band eagerly pursues electronic will o' the wisps even as they keep the beat firmly on the one. "Walk With Me" sexes up your somnambulant travels with tripped-out sitar, the untitled tenth track ventures out on an exploratory jam, and "Cowboy Song" puts Spanish guitar over an Ibiza downbeat. This is chill soul for when you're too tired to bump and grind, but too high to go home.
If this is a Drop, bring on the deluge.::

San Francisco natives Beatropolis lay down soulful downtempo perfect for the hippest clubs and lounges in the nation. “Drop” is something that DC downtempo group Thievery Corporation would absolutely covet. With ethereal and otherworldly vocals, inventive rhythms, and magnificent song arrangements Beatropolis layers on the soulful bleeps and blips with bubbly bass lines that keep it all intact. Dub heads will love songs like “Cowboy Song” while drum&bass kids will relax with the uptempo rolling beats of “Mysterioso”. Easily a crew that’s destined to light up the floor with a sexy and sultry sound, Beatropolis will soon be known for more than just their popular monthly residency “Future Soul” at Amnesia in San Francisco.

A Beatropolis show can be compared to a great date; you're never sure where it's going to go, but you know you'll be satisfied. Their beats are both sexy and technically complex, and they always seem to know exactly what's going to make you break a sweat. Their sound is intricately blended with a selection of hip-hop, drum & bass, soul, and dub. -

Feeling a bit camera shy

Gazing forward; quasars pulse, hovercars hum. Pondering back; sounds from distant diasporas, beats from the streets.

Beatropolis’ heavy mix of dope basslines, edgy hooks, and phat beats drives a concoction of original drum & bass, downtempo, and dub. Famous for our highly refined electro-acoustic sets, Beatropolis consistently delivers sizzling performances late into the night. A Beatropolis show will feature guest artists ranging from Audio Angel to David Boyce to MC Ax!om all workin’ to keep the energy high and the music fresh.

Imagine our sound as The Brazilian Girls doing Tequila shots with Tortoise, and Morcheeba…
