Bio
Becca and the Push came together in Mt. Pleasant, SC in January 2010 to rescue the singer/songwriter genre from self indulgency and flat out boredom. Singer/songwriter, Becca Bessinger is both haunting (as in "Move On," a plea to the abused to leave her abuser) and outrageously humorous (as in "Teddy," the tale of a stuffed bear that is mutilated by a dog). The band consists of Tim Gorman - drums, Tim Brennan - bass, Aaron Levy - guitar/vocals. Together they deliver an alt/country/folk musical package that is full of harmony, emotion, beauty and grit. For fans of Lucinda Williams, REM, Nickel Creek, Ryan Adams, Aimee Mann.
Members of the band have a long list of accomplishments between them, including appearances at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, SXSW, NXNE, MPMF, MEANY, CBGBs, Blossom Music Center in Ohio, the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, and Eddie's Attic in Atlanta. Members of the band have also opened for artists such as Wilco, Drive By Truckers, Sonic Youth, Charlie Daniels, Hootie and The Blowfish, Whiskeytown, Violent Femmes, Slobberbone, John Eddie, Black Crowes, Mark Bryan, Don Henry (Kathy Mattea), Bruce Robison (The Dixie Chicks), Wil McFarlane (Bonnie Raitte) and Archie Jorden (James Brown).
