Bio
It was on a fifth grade talent show stage that the world would come to know a star on the rise: Becca Marlee.
Native to Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, the 19-year-old singer/songwriter carries a musical range akin to acoustic coffeehouse, alternativeindie pop, and folk rock. Her songs tell a story that is uniquely hers, comprised of sophisticated guitar arrangements and lyrics filled with eloquence and purpose. With influences such as Joni Mitchell, Feist, and The Beach Boys, Becca writes songs about love and lessons learned that rapture the hearts of listeners everywhere.
Becca Marlee has performed at key venues in the Northeast, including The Bitter End, ?World Caf Live, and Puck Live. WXPNs Grandfather of Philadelphia Folk Music, Gene Shay, interviewed the young starlet in 2011, after the release of her debut EP, If You Say So, which she recorded with renowned producer and arranger Larry Gold (Justin Timberlake, Lana Del Ray).
In Spring 2012, Becca was one of 16 high school students invited to participate in the Future Music Moguls programa 12-week intensive workshop on music business and recording, run by New York Universitys Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
Becca began working closely with If You Say So Engineer Rick Friedrich (The Roots, Rihanna) in late 2012; and in April 2013, signed to Friedrichs Philly-based indie label, Bold New Breed Records.
After graduating high school in June 2013, Becca was accepted into the Popular Music Performance program at the University of Southern California as one of just 6 admitted singer/songwriters, where she plans to spend the next four years growing as an artist and expanding her presence on the West Coast.
Becca Marlees debut EP with Bold New Breed is expected to release in 2013.
