Winters Sky

Written By: Becky Maag

Winter Sky

Southbound the birds ahead me fly as the sun salutes the rebirth of the winter sky. The leaves have fallen and so have I. It’s a cold walk home. The trees bow at the sight of dawn but I hang my head low and continue on these trails of hope covered in snow now gone. It’s cold walk home. I’ve heard there are stories and I’ve heard there are mysteries of fools just like me who made it home, but they don’t relieve me ‘cause I’m in no hurry. I’ve a long, cold walk home. Frozen puddles made of tears verify of heartache left alone for years. Ceaseless pain always to adhere. It’s a cold walk home. I’ve heard there are stories and I’ve heard there are mysteries of fools just like me who made it home, but they don’t relieve me ‘cause I’m in no hurry. I’ve a long, cold walk home. I’ve a long, cold walk home. Oh I’ve a long, cold walk home.

A City Life

Written By: Becky Maag

1. A City Life

Skyscraper shadows falling over the people walking, pollution clouding through the air. Busses, trains, and cars all beeping, the daytime sleepers sleeping, and echoes heard from everywhere. Daytime falls and lights come on and all the streets are full of cars and stars cannot be seen with any eye. Restaurants full of hungry tums with parents and their little ones and parties go on deep into the night. In a city life. Ah---ah--- in a city life. The sun is back and so are people lining up to buy their things and all the houses lined up door to door. Construction here destruction there and ambulances everywhere; sidewalks clouding up with busy eyes. Ah---ah---ah---ah--- in a city life. The traffic building up, building up around. The people here and there moving all around. Ah---ah---ah---ah---ah--- in a city life.

Win Or Lose?

Win or Lose?

I’m nearing the crossroads of time; the fork in the road where I must choose which way’s right. Time’s running out, it’s almost too late. Leading both to something great, which way will determine fate? I don’t know what leads to something better. Like a beat-up car my thoughts are a mess, as my broken mind in a middle of a head suggests. I sit here alone watching time drive past. How long will this feeling last? Time is driving off so fast. I don’t know what leads to something better. Yet I know I must choose, but where to go I have no clue I don’t know. Win or lose? Feeling so distant from answers so near; distracted and prevented by car horns behind me here. The traffic’s impatient, they’re yelling a storm. Yet I sit here and ignore; to my own mind I’ll implore, but I don’t know what leads to something better. Yet I know I must choose, but where to go I have no clue I don’t know. Win or lose? I too am frustrated for I can’t seem to move; the gas petal’s blocked by fear. What can I do? Fear of the unknown, fear of the unseen. Why at such a time comes for me chaotic adversity? I don’t know what leads to something better. Yet I know I must choose, but where to go I have no clue I don’t know. Win or lose?
