Bio

Bec Willis is a young Australian singer/songwriter currently living on the Central Coast of New South Wales.

It was Bec's undeniably unique voice that first grabbed the attention of one of Australia’s most successful and respected singer / songwriters, Kasey Chambers, in a chance encounter in early 2004.

Kasey was so impressed with Bec she offered to produce her debut album – the first time Kasey had stepped out of performing mode to work on another artist’s project.

“It was that beautiful and quirky catch in her voice that first appealed to me. It was different from anything I had heard but what a bonus when I discovered she was also a great songwriter. She has a special way of making a song sound unmistakably original yet familiar and comfortable. A sad songwriter who still makes you smile - the best kind” said Kasey about why she decided to produce Bec’s album.

The result is a stunning collection of songs, beautifully recorded and exquisitely delivered by a singer who means every word.

The project also features a number of Australia’s elite musicians including another champion of Bec’s, Bill Chambers, along with Kasey’s long-time bass player, Jeff McCormack.

Hailing from Ceduna in South Australia – a small isolated coastal town about 800kms west of Adelaide – Bec, it seemed, was destined to be a singer / songwriter.

She started playing guitar at the age of 7 after her parents bought her a guitar for Christmas. Her brother Billy, who was already quite the all rounder (guitar, bass, vocals and songwriting) showed Bec some chords which came in handy for the regular family sing-a-longs. Bec set off and made Brisbane her home for 9 years, immersing herself in the vibrant local music scene, performing both as a solo artist and as part of local line-ups ''The Getaway Drivers" and "Freckle" playing venues such as Ric's, The Arena (Qld Rock Awards), The Alley, The Zoo, The Brunswick, Griffith Uni and many other venues.

Since temporarily relocating to NSW to work with the Chambers family on her recently finished album, Bec has toured Australia as a musician with some high profile artists.
