"Mission trip"

Mission Trip For 2011
Dear Friends and Family,
God has given me an opportunity to travel to Israel. For the first time my daughter & I will visit Israel, (The Land we call holy) for a Mission Trip June 13-22nd 2011. We will be ministering the message of Jesus Christ. Also, I will be learning and touring with Dr. Terry & Phyllis Faulkenbury who is my Professor at New Life Theological Seminary in which I will graduate with a Bachelor in Urban Christian Ministries with a concentration of Christian Education May 2011. It is truly exciting to see what the Lord has for me to experience and learn.
In the Year 2008, I had an opportunity to minister in Accra, Ghana for two weeks in word and music. It was in Accra, Ghana where I received my Honorary Doctorate Degree. I have to tell you, it changed my life forever. If you log on to www.bedrockgospel.com you will have an opportunity to see a few of the photos taken. While you are on the site, feel free to download some of the songs listed. Also, if you have a prayer request, fill in the request form and we will pray with you and for you. I’ve witness the move of God nationally and internationally. It is truly a “Global Love”. Matthew 28:19 Says, Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Our Mission: My hearts desire is, not to lose one soul to the tactics of the enemy. Our vow is to spread the gospel message throughout the earth, teaching the good news so minds can be transformed and hearts changed for the Glory of God. It is all about Jesus. The Holy Spirit will draw. Jesus said if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me. God is truly faithful and I am honored to be apart of the kingdom of God.
With your help and if God is leading you, the amount needed with be $7,398.00 which will cover (Flight, Food, Travel bus and Hotel) for the both of us. No amount is too small.
With Love and Thankfulness,
May God overshadow you with his love

My name is Dr. Terry Faulkenbury and I serve as Department Head of Pastoral Ministries of New Life Theological Seminary. It is exciting to take seminary students to the Holy Land and watch their learning explode in the knowledge of the Bible. These are the future leaders of our churches. Tawana Ross is an exceptional student and this trip will enlighten her for a lifetime. Consider investing in that which has an eternal reward...others! This knowledge will be used to reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She needs some help to go and your gift could make a huge difference in a life lived in the ministry of our Lord!

"First gospel hip hop turns out teens"

The first Youth Gospel Hip Hop event at New Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ shined a positive light on black youngsters. This group spent their Saturday evening praising God with original gospel rap, comedy and testimonies that encouraged others to live God’s way.
“Grab hold of the truth of Jesus Christ. Our lifestyles are worship. The only thing that saved me was Jesus salvation,” said, Kevin Cellent, Soldiers for Christ. Cellent, 17, said his turnaround moment occurred when a bullet missed him. “The bullet didn’t touch me. If God wants you here, you must have something to do.”
Squiggy, gospel comedian, opened with a prayer. “God bless this fool…I got saved 23 times and then came Homecoming,” She joked about preacher’s bad breath and strong ushers. Squiggy’s next performance will be at the Black College Festival, Sept. 5&6, Independence Park.
Tawana Ross, Bedrock Gospel rapper, performed her own I Want God interactive rap to a church filled audience that stood in ovation.
“In the morning, in the evening… I want God,” chanted the audience.
Performers included rappers HBC, New Emmanuel’s Youth choir The Rain and poetry by Monique.
Get Up and Do Something Media, Still Blazin Hip Hop and Poverty to Potential sponsored the event.

"Program helps girls build self-esteem"

According to the National Association for Self-Esteem, lives of adolescent girls are directly impacted by their self-esteem.

PHOTO/JENNIFER GALLMAN

The Passions of Purity workshop at Boulevard Homes provided a place for girls to discuss issues of importance to them without being judged by others, especially boys.

A lack of or low self-esteem is a key cause in the following: eating disorders, dieting, pregnancy, smoking, and suicidal thoughts. One of the best ways to improve self-esteem in adolescents is to be proactive.

On Sept. 13, employees of the Charlotte Housing Authority and Taia Crews of WOGR radio (1540 AM) held a Passions of Purity workshop for girls at Boulevard Homes. The workshop provided a safe place for the girls to discuss issues in an environment where they wouldn’t be judged by others, especially boys.
According to the Girl Scout Research Institute, girls’ self-images are determined not only by their self-perceptions but also the perception of others. It is important to connect these youth with positive women who they aspire to be like and can act as positive role models. In the class, young girls recognized mothers and grandmothers as being role models in their lives. One of the shyer girls proudly stood up and recognized her mother for working hard and even though she did not have a lot of money, always providing her with what she needed.

All of the workshop classes were provided by women employees of CHA and Taia Crews in a positive, honest, and supportive environment. The classes focused on proper etiquette, taking care of your body, and pushing through pain. Also at the workshop, attendees created DreamBooks to take home. Each young lady created a book full of magazine clippings that expressed what she wanted to achieve in life.

“One of the young girls at the workshop said she was going to sleep with her DreamBook underneath her pillow as a reminder that she was special,” Boulevard Homes Assistant Site Manager Tawnna Ross said. “Feedback like this is affirmation of the importance of self-esteem workshops for the positive development of the beautiful, young ladies in this community.”

The workshop is one of a series being put together by the CHA to address self-esteem issues for youth who reside in CHA communities.

Bio

Tawana Ross is a prophet to the nations. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, her anointed voice is as one crying in the wilderness while giving God the Glory always. She is humble, yet her determination to fulfill her calling from God has captured the attention of the nations. Tawanas character, integrity, agape love, and scriptural honesty provide her the ability to touch the hearts of individuals and the Church. She is not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She proclaims the Word of God to the community and the world through her music, and teachings.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God. Hebrews 11:3

Moving and breathing only because of what Christ has done in her life, Tawana Ross is a light to the nations. If it had not been for His sustaining power she knows that she would not be here today to proclaim that same power. She refuses to compromise and settle for less than all God has for her life in purpose and destiny. She teaches through living out that the Word of God as the blueprint for her life. It has transformed her thoughts as she daily seeks to have the Mind of Christ and to do His will. Jesus keeps her strong. But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
She faces the world and the enemy of God head on. With her lungs full of the breath given her by her Savior, she ministers with scripture from Gods Holy Word put to music in the form of Gospel Rap and Holy Hip Hop. Bringing messages of change and hope to a world that needs to hear the truth and the healing words of the Savior.

On a Personal Note from Tawana:

Before I am a rapper I am a minister of the gospel; the unadulterated Word of God that changes, heals and sets the captives free. My hearts desire is to prevent the loss of any souls to the tactics of the enemy. I vow to help spread the Gospel throughout the earth, teaching the Good News so that Minds are Transformed, Thoughts are Reconstructed, Hearts are Changed to want to be like Christ and Holiness becomes the Choice of Lifestyle.
As a former student of New Life Theological Seminary, Tawana continues her educational pursuits knowing her charge is to stay committed and equipped for the building up of the Kingdom of God while proclaiming liberty through the Name of Jesus Christ the Messiah.

Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which
keepeth the truth may enter in.
Isaiah 26:2

I have a Charge to Keep and God to Glorify
