Bio

After twenty-five years of playing piano, the old adage “I do not play music because I am happy – I am happy because I play music” shines true for Bryan. Always a private emotional cornerstone, Bryan’s musical diary evolved over the years, the soundtrack of his thoughts and experiences. While he would often anonymously insert original material into public performances, pursuing recognition as a professional songwriter was never a priority. Having worked extensively as an artist manager and promoter in the world of rock music and entertainment, there was no illusion of grandeur and instant success, either.

However, when a few friends requested CDs for Christmas in 2004, something happened. The feedback was so encouraging and persistent to release The Midnight Demos publicly that he began offering it through select music stores and via the internet. As he began sharing it with a wider audience, it soon became obvious there was a special connection others felt with the music, too. Not uncommon were testimonials of listeners being moved to tears, as well as wonderful and humbling praise and expressions of gratitude. The unexpected success of The Midnight Demos evolved into his latest release, Shining After Midnight. A private and lifelong passion has evolved into communicating emotionally with complete strangers - a somewhat strange yet wonderful experience.

Just after turning twelve, Bryan began performing Friday and Saturday nights in a fine-dining restaurant in his hometown of Goderich, Ontario. He began exploring songwriting around fifteen and a year later moved to Toronto to attend the Etobicoke School of the Arts, majoring in piano and percussion. Graduating from the Harris Institute with Honours in Recording Arts Management laid the foundation for an ongoing entrepreneurial career as an artist manager and promoter based in Toronto. A two-year bout with Lyme Disease was actually the turning point in bringing the music focus back to his own material, an experience which is directly responsible for the current availability of his recordings. Other passions include adventure, becoming a singer and learning to play guitar, writing, soapstone carving, reading, laughing, and spirituality.
