Bio

Born in Recife [Brazil] and grown with eyes and ears all around the world, the singer and songwriter Bê Formiga - as known on stage - is a multi-talented professional. Graduated in Design from Federal University of Pernambuco [UFPE], where she also earned a MSc Degree, Bárbara Formiga sums to her passion for music, fashion and arts in general. Accumulating a postgraduate degree in Design from Domus Academy [Milan, Italy], a technical diploma in fashion design, besides her recent role in design management and innovation in an IT company, her creations can be found in forms of sounds, fabrics, paints and words.

She began her musical career at age 18 with the "pop'n'roll" band "Rádio de Outono" [Autumn Radio], with which released a self-titled album. Known for her energetic performance and authenticity, Bê Formiga participated, throughout her history with the band, in great brazilian festivals such as Rec Beat, April Pro Rock, Mada, FIG, No ar... Coquetel Molotov, Curitiba Rock Festival and Noise Festival. The band had a song inserted in the italian magazine "Losing Today", had a review by Norman Blake, from Teenage Fanclub and also participated in tribute albuns to great brazilian artists such as Ronnie Von and José Augusto. Now in a solo career, the redhead with translucent green eyes consolidates her style, showing a more intimate side, releasing her first album, "A mulher do fim do mundo" ["The Woman from the End of the World"] last December 21st.

In the fashion world, she had also developed a brand, Meketref, who had a fashion show in Fashion Rio, Oi FashionTour and Oi Fashion Music [the latter two held in Recife], having also created wedding dresses and now own a collection of tennis, printed with her own illustrations, the "XUS" [www.flickr.com/barbaraformiga]. Her illustrations, marked by a combination of lines and curves that unite delicacy and strength, can also be found on the walls of ateliers and fashion shops in town.
