Beg For Mercy

Beg For Mercy is a female fronted, 5 member metalcore band that regularly plays shows across Southern Ontario.  They typically perform as direct support for major touring bands.  They also headline shows that they self promote in their hometown of Toronto.  Their first show was in April of 2012 at an open mic night at a downtown bar where they wowed the crowd with 10 minutes of original hard driving material.  The owners of the bar contacted promoters in the city and Beg For Mercy had their first show the next weekend.  

Since then, the band has played shows of increasing size and importance.  The band regularly draws capacity crowds at Velvet Underground and other venues such as, The Rivoli, Hard Luck Club, Rockpile East and West, Opera House and out of town clubs.  They have enjoyed repeat bookings because of their large crowd draw and flawless reliability.  Beg For Mercy headlines self promoted shows and has supported bands such as Wednesday 13, UFO, Cardinals Pride, Teen Age Head and others.  Beg For Mercy has earned the distinction of being the youngest band ever to open for the Misfits.

Most recently, Beg For Mercy was selected to compete in the Wacken Metal Battle Canada.  They won their qualifier round at the Hard Luck Club beating out 3 other bands and progressed to the semi-finals.  The semi-finals were held at The Rivoli where they headlined the show and were given special mention by the judges.  Beg For Mercy has the distinction of being the youngest band ever to participate in the Wacken Metal Battle and was the only band to get a crowd initiated encore demand.

Beg For Mercy music can be described as metalcore with added inspiration from progressive metal and classic rock.  Their main influences include Of Mice and Men, Devil Wears Prada, Beartooth and Periphery.

The band released a self titled record in March of 2013.  Media reviews praised the music and performances of the band.  Beg For Mercy music regularly appears on several internet radio shows including “The Metal Deli” and “Ondes Choc”. Band Biography

Mackenzie Smith - Vocals and Rhythm Guitar

Mack is professionally trained in guitar and piano.  He founded Beg For Mercy when he was 15 years old.  Prior to this, he performed both solo shows and with a band at open air concerts at Mel Lastman Square in North York.

Natalie Smith - Vocals

Natalie is professionally trained in voice, piano and also plays the flute.  She is a former member of an all girl band called Live Out Loud that landed contracts with the Toronto District School Board and played benefits for the Toronto Orchestra.

Ben Kolli - Lead Guitar

Ben is professionally trained in electric and classical guitar.  He adds his classic rock flare to the guitar solos.

Ben Hitchcock - Bass

Ben is a self-taught bass guitar player.  Ben is currently studying sound engineering at MetalWorks Institute and is the recording engineer for current Beg For Mercy demo sessions.

Julian Psihogios - Drummer

Julian is professionally trained in drums achieving instructor level at the Royal Conservatory of Music.  He is currently a drum teacher at Lippert Music.  Julian has been playing in various bands in an array of styles for the past 4 years.  He brings a progressive metal inspiration to the band’s new music.
