Bio

Breath Extension is a hip-hop artist, chronicling the joys and struggle of today’s generation of hard-working young “hustlers.” Breath Extension, better known as B.E., was born and raised in Washington, DC. His devotion to creating music began during his years at Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, when he began to explore the business side of hip-hop. At the same time, B.E. started sampling with beats and lyrics that would inspire his community. After high school, B.E. attended the University of District of Columbia and Bowie State University, where he studied business and music technology.

He launched his professional music career in 2007 and has released seven mixtapes, including the self-titled Breath Extension Mixtape, which earned the artist a nomination for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Artist by Velocity Magazine in 2009. With his latest release, Retroflow, (Nov. 2011) B.E. takes his listeners on a soulful journey with timeless beats from the past combined with his own lyrical stories of today’s struggles and pleasures. His relatable lyrics and commitment to an underground and inspirational grind earned B.E. the title of, “Hometown Hero.”

B.E. performed in 2009 on the Still Rising Tour; he is a nine-time nominee for the DC, Maryland and Virginia Music Awards and performed at the awards show in 2010. In addition to his nod for Best Artist and Best Rap Album by Velocity Magazine, the publication also nominated B.E. for Best Collaboration (“Check Us Out” ft. Tokes Eastwood) and for Best Video (“Grind to Get Richer”).

B.E. was featured in Kapital Magazine in 2010 and his “Grind to Get Richer” video appeared on AllHipHop.com. B.E. is a powerful, inspirational and versatile artist, who specializes in connecting with various audiences. He has performed at an array of events, including a church festival in New Jersey, Bowie State University’s Homecoming (for four consecutive years), Juneteenth Festival, the 2010 Howard University Step Show and special events in the DC metropolitan area.
