Bio

Belle Scar  is the new music project of multi instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, artist and producer Geeta. Originally from Montreal, she is now based in London U.K. She is influenced by cinematographic moods and grooves, dark pop, rock'n roll, analogue vintage sounds, visual arts, poetry and dreams.

Belle Scar is renowned for powerful live performances. With her uniquely wide vocal range, she carries the audience to magical places. Belle Scar is an eccentric on stage, with her unique style of dancing and singing, she hits the stage like a creature from another planet. Belle Scar has a highly conceptual approach to her artistic projects, she draws inspiration from artists such as David Bowie, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Andy Warhol, Björk, Danny Elfman, Grace Jones… The artist explores a wide range of instrumentation and eclectic arrangements, always in pursuit of new and exciting sounds from the acoustic and electronic worlds.

Belle Scar has collaborated with several international artists from the music, cinema, multi-media and fashion scene. She participated at festivals like the Flux Exhibition of the Royal College of Arts (London), The Glastonbury Festival, NXNE Festival (Toronto), New Cinema Festival and International Literature Festival, The Fringe and Pop Montreal, Fields Empordá Festival (Costa Brava), Fringe Festival (UK), Degeneration Festival (Czech Republic), Catwalk for Fashion Show (Barcelona), and has toured across Europe in 2014/15 to present her album Light Bulbs.

Belle Scar has worked with a 30 piece choir, who she also produced. The artist has participated in a number of art residencies, where she developed a fresh approach to writing for and capturing the sound of the human voice in a variety of settings. Among them were a residency in Armenia, at the Arts & Cultural Laboratory Studies and the Montreal Arts Intercultural (Canada), where she performed a string of shows called “Chasing Trails” under the moniker Boa Levy, a time-travelling character who tells her tale with a grand piano in theaters.

Geeta sang in the Canadian film “Pure” by director Jim Donovan. She also contributed vocals for projects by Electronic Arts, The Cirque Du Soleil, the international bands Suns of Arqa and Pigface.

Geeta’s last release Light Bulbs was released in 2015. She is presently working on the production of her new release with her partner in crime, producer and musician Marc Olivier.  The EP will be released in spring 2017.  A first teaser, the new single Tasteless will be available at the beginning of November 2016. You can expect something epic from this next album.
