Toil and Trouble

Written By: Belle's Wake

Mad blood stirring, something wicked this way comes
Forsaken parts we are the sum
Lead the pack now down haunted roads, a thought betrayed
Into the night devils wade
Thrown to the sirens, the dashing rocks bemoan
Finally its time we made our way for home, for home
Because all the while, my heart, my heart sings from its cage
Toil and trouble, brace yourself child and beware
Into the sun angels dare
Breathe, relax now, your faith is pouring gold with hate
Brother hear the past and steer away
Thrown to the sirens, the dashing rocks bemoan
Finally its time we made our way for home, for home
Because all the while, my heart, my heart sings from its cage
Well alone walks the man who must think where he stands
Always thrown out the door by the rising urge for more
For glory stalks, and as he walks his feet to sleep
He notices a dying dream that is growing more bold above his shoulder
And I say woe be to man, your loves an open sore
And your righteousness has tried so hard to hide our scars with gold
So tell me is it raining, is it pouring, is a hurricane a blowing
A hymn emerges from the night and reaches for the note and I say
Sing on, sing on, sing on, sing on

The Nature of the Ground

Written By: Belle's Wake

Well on the brink we stand, our towers high
What’s written in flesh is carved from the sky
From the edge of the world we watch it all
From the edge of an urge I’ll watch if fall
My reckless chest with thoughts to breathe
But fated to fight the long defeat
Of blood to dust that sinks will grow
And from the earth shall rise a flower bold enough to tell
The nature of the ground
The cards she holds must all fall down
So choose your card, enjoy the ride
My wilted faith in time must die
And blaze away, so deep the sound
Where embers flair the chant resounds
And slowly steam arcs from our lips
The art of love, brushstrokes that hiss
And release a song, so sad, so free
With every step, every breath brings us closer
To where we began
The music fades and the crowds leave the stands
And what they take with them is
The taste of days loved
So take this back, your halos high
Your rusted hearts, your twisted light
Arrest this mouth its gone to far
It bleeds with truth and feeds the star
That burns awake and hums aloud
Of moments lost and men to proud
But sweeping low, bold, dim, and vast
A questions’ born, not afraid to ask
And what will they say
When the flower screams and learns to fly away
And all the tongue remembers is
The taste of days loved

Wild Creatures of Doubt

Written By: Belle's Wake

I still remember the first time that i woke in fright,
running circles asleep in a dream with nowhere to hide,
Old secrets to bear like a tree with its bark, The strands of a life branching off in the dark, the mountains that roots never show, underground a fever grows slowly.

Deep down and under the soil a mystery lies,
Stirring under our skin there's a story the years can't divide,
Beyond the waste and the fields that we know, A wonder evolves from a cave made of bone,
A creature is crawling to shore and at last he hears the thundering chorus sing.

Where now do we begin to measure out, All that we can't pin down or see

Shake the world, Rise now child you are free
Changes is swirling round so vast to see
Because we're wild creatures of doubt we don't know what we have,
Destined to die, but longing to fly, born free.

I still remember the first time that you made me smile,
Growing younger since then in your arms now I am a child,
Though flesh turns to stone we were born of the stars, and death cannot find us love you are my heart,
Leading me safely to shore as the storm passes loud over me.

Where now do we begin to measure out, All that we can't pin down or see

Shake the world, Rise now child you are free
Changes is swirling round so vast to see

Shake the world, Rise now child you are free
Changes is swirling round so vast to see
Because we're wild creatures of doubt we don't know what we have,
Destined to die, but longing to fly, born free.
