Bello Spark

Grand Rapids, Mich./Chicago, Ill.

A tale of two cities, two musicians, and their mutual respect and inspiration comes to life on Bello Spark’s debut. A collaboration between Chicago vocalist/guitarist Rob Jordan and GR guitarist/vocalist Tory Peterson (also of Simien The Whale), this twelve-song set focuses on the duo’s respective contributions, keeping the rhythm section back in the mix, and emphasizing every one of Jordan’s breaths and Peterson’s licks. While Jordan’s raspy vocals might remind some listeners of Marcus Mumford, and Peterson’s leads might ring out like Coldplay, their shared love for ‘90s pop-rock prominently marches out with the rhythm guitar churn of album opener “Parade,” and continues through just about every acoustic/electric track. They’ve got enough hooks and talent for light-rock’s spotlight, so fans of that sound should check them out now at bellospark.com.-Eric Mitts - Recoil Magazine

Bio

A mutual respect for the music each other produced led to friendship between Rob Jordan and Tory Peterson, but it would be many emails and phone calls passed between Chicago and Grand Rapids, Michigan before forming a collaboration.

Jordan took a three-year songwriting hiatus, sledged away in the working world of Chicago, after his former band called it quits. Peterson is a member of the successful Grand Rapids musical act Simien the Whale, but went looking for a creative outlet that matched his other songs. With Peterson nudging him forward, Jordan felt a calling back to music and quickly went on a writing spree.

Realizing that the distance could be beaten, demos and riffs turned to songs, soon the pair were energized, and began recording sessions in Petersons studio. In spring of 2012, the pair won the iShowcase industry event in Chicago, garnering the attention of recording professionals.

Jordans captivatingly raspy voice and Petersons ethereal guitar were rounded out by longtime musical friends. Now the band generates a folky, pop rock sound. BelloSpark released its first album in March 2013.

After the release, the two began touring the Midwest and the Great Plains in support of their song, Parade, that is being played on several AAA radio stations across the country. The album also received nominations of Best Album by a New Artist and Best Regional Album of the Year from WYCE in Grand Rapids Mi. Rob and Tory tour using a blend of rhythmic acoustic guitars and atmospheric electric guitars to present there music to crowds young and old.

2014 will be an exciting year for Bello Spark as they begin work on a second album and expand their touring into new markets and new fans.
