"Explore BeMyFiasco’s Many ‘Layers’"

After a three-year break between projects, Bianca “BeMyFiasco” Rodriguez has been easing her way back into music. First with her Mary J. Blige-sampling single “Secret Love Affair” at the end of 2015 and now with the release of her second EP Layers, the singer/songwriter is showing that she's here to stay. The Dallas native opens with “The Idea Of Love (Possibilities)," beginning with a relatively lengthy (1:07, but worth it) piano interlude leading into her wondering and hoping that she and her lover aren’t moving too fast in their relationship. The vocal runs that follow and end the track are nothing short of her usual beautiful. Up next is “Monday Morning Blues” where over synth, keys and programmed drums, BeMyFiasco wants her lover to call in "slick" to work for the day, making it known she’ll make it more than worth his time."Monday Morning Blues" segues sensually into “Work on You” with the promise of putting in even more work -- in the bedroom and not the boardroom. With these two songs, BeMyFiasco channels her inner Jill Scott with clever lyrics and soulful vocals, but she is entirely her own artist.Another slow-burning bedroom groove, “Devil’s Advocate,” follows. A ticking clock, percussion and scratches form the soundbed for BeMyFiasco’s vocals as she lets her secret lover who she just worked out know that no one will love him better. “Lovers Gold” closes the set on a downbeat. She laments over this lover of hers who belongs to another. They may feel right together, but what they're doing is wrong and she hasn't found "Lovers Gold" after all.Layers paints a vivid picture of love, lust, passion and, ultimately, heartbreak. After peeling through every layer of this EP, here’s to hoping Bianca “BeMyFiasco” Rodriguez won't go on another three-year hiatus and will deliver more engrossing projects such as this. - Soul Bounce

"NEW RELEASE | BeMyFiasco- Layers"

Singer BeMyFiasco (aka Bianca Rodriguez) serves up a compellingly eclectic and organically flowing sound set on her sophomore release, Layers (HERE)- a starlit, 21st century soul offering that finds the 20-something-year-old songbird delivering glowing vocals over a bright batch of synth-soul arrangements. An instantly endearing piece of work that has this sort of 90’s era, head-rush energy to it that is tempered by a deeper, more progressive edge which keeps the whole thing from feeling too light. Sweetly soulful work with standout moments like the vapory album opener “The Idea Of Love (Possibilities)”; the radio ready gem “Work On You”; and the slow stirring “Devil’s Advocate”. - Mighty Burners

"Fall in Love this Spring to the Tune of BeMyFiasco’s ‘Layers’ EP [@BeMyFiasco #layersEP]"

Nearly three years have passed since Bianca Rodriguez released her first full body of work, the Solitude mixtape, a roller-coaster ride of emotions whose sounds stuck to R&B with occasional lapses into soft pop. Since then, the Dallas songbird has honed her sound, dropping individual tracks here and there with the expectation being that they might manifest into something.

Over the last few months, Rodriguez laid the foundation for her musical “rebirth” of sorts, rebranding herself “BeMyFiasco.” That rebirth came to a head Thursday, with the official release of her new EP, Layers. The project was executive produced by Rodriguez’s trusty producer Sir Tim and mixed by IshD.

“Layers” may refer as much to BeMyFiasco’s voice as much as it does to the EP’s actual content (which, in Rodriguez’s own words, is “a journey through the mind and emotional state of Fiasco”). There’s a range and confidence in BeMyFiasco’s chops that either wasn’t there before or has never sounded so clear until now. To be fair, its presence lurked within her recent singles (the sassy “Monday Morning Blues” and the slow-burning, seductive “Work On You,” both of which appear on the EP); but those were just appetizers.

The EP starts with the piano-driven “The Idea of Love (Possibilities),” propelled forward by BeMyFiasco’s beckoning refrain, “Tell me if I’m movin’ too fast, baby,” and persisting for four more tracks. Even the EP’s shortest track, “Devil’s Advocate,” is emotionally loaded, with its island-tinged groove and BeMyFiasco crooning on the hook, “Who’s gon’ save you? Who’s gon’ love you, like I do? (Nobody!)” It all comes together so smoothly that its thirteen minute run-length seems longer than it really is. Not that you needed a soundtrack if you plan on falling in love this spring, but Layers has you covered if you are.

"BeMyFiasco - Layers (EP Stream)"

It's been a good 3 years since we've last got a project from BeMyFiasco, but the powerful DFW based songstress is back in 2016 and better than ever before. Her latest work "Layers" is just that. Traveling through the different layers of love, lust, attraction, and passion. The 5 track EP meshes together classic r&b harmonies with a futuristic twist. The entire EP is seamless and the tracks bounce to the next with superior ease. From the breakout single "Monday Morning Blues" to other well equipped tracks like "Work On You" & "Devils Advocate" This makes for one of the best female r&b listens I've heard in a minute, and is surely worth your attention. - New Dallas

"BeMyFiasco Returns with Second EP 'Layers' [NEW MUSIC]"

The moment I’ve been anxiously awaiting! Dallas songbird BeMyFiasco returns with her second project, Layers.

It’s been 3 years since Bianca “BeMyFiasco” Rodriguez made her way into my musical heart with her debut project, Solitude. As I’ve recounted many times, that project was absolutely perfect. After proclaiming it as “one of the best R&B projects I’ve ever heard,” I incessantly begged Fiasco to release another project. Don’t get me wrong, Solitude is still in regular rotation, but I wanted a new project to fill me in on where life and love had taken her. Isn’t that what good music should do to you?

As if all my pleading wasn’t in vain, a new BeMyFiasco track titled, “Work On You” premiered last week, and I felt a bubbling anticipation arise in my spirit. Could all these months of lurking on Snapchat and growing more and more excited with every clip of Fiasco in the studio mean a new EP was really around the corner? Was this a drill?

Being the angel she is, BeMyFiasco made good on her promise and gifted us with the greatly anticipated release of Layers. The 5-track EP, produced by Sir Tim, takes us on a journey through Fiasco’s mind & emotional state. Just what I needed!

Her 2015 single, “Monday Morning Blues“, reappears on Layers, reminding us that the artistic chemistry between BeMyFiasco and Sir Tim has only grown in the best direction possible. She still has that warm, yet more refined, voice that’s equal parts engaging and soothing. As Fiasco shares the excitement of new love, the passion of lust, and woes of unfulfilled love, you can’t help but feel like you’re in the studio with her as she unpacks all of these complex matters of the heart. Layers is R&B well done.

"BeMyFiasco’s “Layers” is All Truth"

Dallas singer songwriter Bianca Rodriguez, better known as BeMyFiasco talks with us about the ideas within her latest release, “Layers,” the process of putting it together, and some of her favorite new songs.

Can you give me a little intro to “Layers”?

Layers is honesty just a trip through my mind. Each song calls upon an emotion. All truth. The first track is called “The Idea of Love.” It’s all instrumental. Sir Tim is just playing these beautiful notes. It almost feels very somber and bittersweet but the tension eases and my mind relaxes & decides to proceed. It was almost a foreshadowing. I was doomed from the beginning.

What are some of the themes of the project?

There’s love, anxiety, sex, regret, angst, happiness, madness & hope.

What about it is special and exciting to you?

This project is special to me for a few reasons. It’s my full release in 3 years. It feels like my re-introduction to Dallas. Not just as an artist but a writer as well. We worked so hard to get this finished so to see it all come together is crazy. It’s also the first time I worked solely with one producer, which I think when you listen you’ll understand why.

I just listened to “Work on You” 7 times (it’s so good), why is that song important to you?

Hahaha, thank you! I’m glad you like it. “Work on You” is what really lit the fire to finish the rest of the tape. We (Sir Tim & I) finally felt like we knew what we wanted to make and its been magic ever since. Work on You represents the sensual side of me. The willingness to submit but also take control. The power struggle if you will.

What was the process of making “Layers” like ? How long did it take, who did you work with?

Layers is almost 3 years in the making. It’s short yes, but we packed so much into it. I worked exclusively with Sir Tim on this one because of our chemistry. Like there’s no way this gets done without him. It’s honest, like all of my music.

How would you describe this sound? How is it different from your previous work?

We’re all about the groove. It’s funky. It’s sultry. It’s sweet. We’re still crafting it honestly. And it differs from my previous work because it all flows. We use a lot of the same elements. Before, it felt a lot more neb-soul. This one to me feels more R&B/Soul.

Do you have a favorite song on the project? Why is it important to you?

“Lovers Gold” is definitely my favorite. It wrote itself. Like the words just flowed & I had all of these stored emotions. It’s about being in love with someone you can’t have. Like meeting your soulmate but both of you are in a situation and there’s no resolve. It starts to eat at you but eventually you learn or better yet try to deal until the universe tells you otherwise.

What do you hope people will take away from this project?

I want people (especially my generation) to listen to the project & know that its okay to feel. Like genuinely acknowledge your emotions. I got into something that took me through a range of emotions. Though self-inflicted, I learned more about what I wanted. Who I was & what I really deserved.

I love your lyrics so much, what is your writing/creative process like?

Well, working with Tim we usually start with some really cool chords then I let him go to work. I may chime in here & there but I let him finish his full thought first. He sends me home with a simple loop; I go home & craft a verse or just lay some cool shit and then we link up like Voltron & hash it out together. It’s such a cool process.

Is there anything you wish people knew more about you or your music?

Just as someone who’s consistently providing opportunities for themselves and those around them. I just want to explore as many avenues as I possibly can. In a creative community I look for the movers and shakers. Those with the fresh, new ideas. - Austere Magazine
