Bio
Originally from Wisconsin, Ben Arvan has been playing New York City music venues for over 2 years now. He first came to the city as an actor and singer, beginning a decade-long career performing across the country in various professional theatres.
Shortly after arriving, Ben taught himself to play the guitar using complex picking patterns and alternate tunings. Free of trendiness, his music has the honesty of traditional folk music and folk-rock, updated with modern energy. His playing style has often been compared to Don McLean and James Taylor, and his smooth baritone voice adds a refreshing touch. Lyrically, Ben is at his best, creating songs that are both personal and widely accessible, poetic and universal. His melodies cradle the delicate words with precision and care, and he is a warm, engaging performer.
No stranger to the stage, Ben has consistently filled venues in New York’s acoustic scene such as The Bitter End, CB’s Gallery, Kenny’s Castaways, the Triad and the Baggot Inn. Ben Arvan brings a simple eloquence to his songs, offering audiences a truthful, determined, and positive set of music with every show.
