With over six years of stage experience, touring extensively throughout Central Texas, 25-year old Ben Cina (see-nuh) has forged an unconventional path in a local scene riddled with Country influence and roadside attractions. Hailing from the military town of Killeen, artists like Al Green, Bill Withers and Otis Redding provided the daily soundtrack to Cina’s only-child upbringing, inspiring him to craft what today amounts to well over 100 original songs. Many of these classic Blues riffs were fine-tuned during his two years spent as a student of vocal and piano training in the world famous University of North Texas Jazz Program.
Recently signing with Record Label/ Management Co. V.I.P. Music Group in early September 2010, Ben Cina’s most recent offering, Spiritual Progress, is a self-produced, 5-track compilation to be released in October of 2010. It’s a project Cina describes as “self-evident” in its approach to gain a better understanding of his musical identity, while simultaneously demonstrating his soulful Southern roots.
Currently Cina is back in the recording studio, this time assembling his debut album under the guidance of esteemed Texas Music/Vocal Producer Rob Bass {V.I.P. Music Group} whos discography credits gold and platinum artists i.e. (Lil Flip, Mojoe, Raheem Devaughn, Lil Keke). With this new body of work, he hopes to incorporate soulful hook-infused, progressive R&B melodies with live big band instrumentation that still manages to retain its Pop sensibility.
