Beneath The Burning Sun

Beneath the Burning Sun was formed in Hutchinson, KS in March 2006. We are Sean Story (lead vox), Kyle Crank (lead guitar/vox), Colton Gartleman (lead guitar/vox), Tom Smalling (drummer/vox), and Jeff Nusser (bass). Beneath The Burning Sun is a rush of melodic metal that sinks to your soul and rattles your bones all in one instance. We are heavily influenced by Tool, A Perfect Circle, In This Moment, Killswitch Engage, Sevendust, each other, our colleagues of unsigned music, and more.

In July, 2006, we were named the winners of the Hutchfest Battle of the Bands. Four months after that, we released our first demo titled “The Enemy Called Pride”. The EP was well received and also gave birth to Wake the Dead Rock and Metal Festival, which is the festival that we host every year in Hutchinson, KS to keep the local music scene alive. We are big supporters of local music. We believe in unity. We are always helping bands tear down and set up between sets, or lending equipment if there is a problem, and returning gig favors to bands that we play with, because we are all in it together to make sure everything runs smoothly. That is the type of band we are and strive to be no matter what level we reach in the music industry. We have played many benefit shows for various things, focused mostly on local people in need of assistance. We have been known to throw our entire gig pay and merch sales to the person or cause for whom the benefit is being held.

In April 2010, we ventured to Bullet Ride Productions to start production of our first full length album titled “Demons We Create”. This was a more professional sounding record and a better representation of Beneath The Burning Sun as a whole. We also released our first official video for our album’s single, “Borrowed Time”. Since then we have played with many national acts including, Seasons After, Vintage Burning, Motograter, Taproot, Blue Felix, Hemlock, In This Moment, Heart Set Self Destruct, LA Guns, Hurt and many more. In 2011, we were taken under official representation of Bring It To The Floor Management, by fan demand, asked to headline our own Wake The Dead Rock and Metal Festival, added to a compilation album of all Midwest unsigned bands called Midnight Disaster Volume 1, and asked to headline the CD Release party for the compilation album. 2011 also finds us writing new music and working toward our second full length album and a much larger stage production. We pride ourselves on our live show, its truly a must see experience. You will walk away from our set shocked, shaken, rocked to the core, and finding yourself saying “I need to look these guys up and find out when their next show is!” Do yourself a favor, and come get your faces melted at at Beneath The Burning Sun show, coming to a city near you!
