Bio
Bengt (pronounced bent) Washburn was born into a small Mormon family (seven kids) and raised in a big Mormon town (Mapleton, UT- pop. 2,000). His father is a psychiatrist and his mother is crazy (see: seven kids).
From age 19-21 Bengt was a Mormon Missionary in the Seattle Washington area. For two years he wore a suit while riding a ten speed. He was asked to serve the Hispanic community so he learned how to speak broken Spanish fluently. Knocking on strangers doors and bringing up religion makes Bengt no stranger to rejection, but it does make him stranger.
Always evolving, Bengts act presents the world as seen through the eyes of a small town Mormon man gone slightly awry. Bengt is unique and universal, achieving the quirky while remaining accessible. Described as an intellectual with an imps perspective, his musings are clever, silly, poignant, pointed, irreverent, thought provoking, and hilarious. Recently, Bengts one-of-a-kind comedy won him first place in the famous San Francisco Comedy Competition.
