"Benita makes a case for herself on the empowering “Anything”"

Hailing from Toronto, Benita is making her powerful debut with the infectious new, “Anything”. Speaking on the all too familiar situation of drowning in unrequited love, “Anything” is a song about knowing when to draw the line in a relationship, and ultimately, leaving a companion with a chance to say “Anything” in their defence, or move on. With rhythmic ferocity, Benita makes it clear that she isn’t here to play games.

Benita’s tenacious vocals swoop and dart across the R&B meets industrial 808 beat with polished finesse. “Anything” feels like the essential banger for every individual who is ready to put their own needs over the wavering interests of others.

"This song represents figuring out your self-worth and realizing you gotta do what’s best for your own happiness," she says. "What inspired this song is the idea of how we sometimes tend to always put others first before ourselves and expect too much out of a situation. The unfortunate part of that is that it leads to us simply settling for an individual."

"Benita releases a rhythmic R&B tune, entitled, “Simple”"

Benita is a singer-songwriter based in Toronto, Canada. Not too long ago, she released a rhythmic R&B tune, entitled, “Simple”.

‘Simple’ tells an interesting tale of a young woman who prefers to handle things in a civil way with her significant other.

Apparently, he said some things that didn’t sit right with her. Therefore, she goes with the flow not knowing what their future holds.
‘Simple’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and vibey instrumentation flavored with contemporary R&B and neo-soul elements.

Benita stands for self-empowerment and self-worth. Her debut single, entitled, “Anything”, has won over music fans with boldness and persuasion.

One of her most memorable accomplishments came when she shared the stage with fellow Canadian Daniel Caesar, singing backup vocals on a string of sold-out shows.

Also, she had the pleasure of opening for Kehlani alongside TRP.P at the 2018 Pride Festival in Toronto.

We recommend adding Benita’s “Simple” single to your personal playlist. Also, let us know how you feel about it in the comment section below. - Zangba Thomson - Bong Mines Ent

"Benita Keeps it "Simple""

Rising Toronto based singer/songwriter Benita makes a grand entry on TWIb with a solid single titled “Simple”. A reckon that really shows her in her element over a soul-filled enthralling soundscape. The angelic-voiced singer packs a punch with her emotion-filled performance as she tries to wade through a not so certain situation.

Growing up in Toronto, she preferred to keep her talents to herself. Benita’s shyness would eventually subside, taking on a bunch of local performances that would eventually provide her with the exposure and confidence she needed to launch a music career. One of her most memorable accomplishments came when she shared the stage with fellow Canadian Daniel Caesar, singing backup vocals on a string of sold-out shows. She also had the pleasure of opening for Kehlani alongside TRP.P at the 2018 Pride Festival in Toronto.

"TORONTO’S BENITA WANTS TO KEEP IT ‘SIMPLE’"

Location: Toronto, Canada

Label: Self-released

FFO: Kehlani, H.E.R, Ella Mai

Toronto-based singer-songwriter Benita wants to keep it ‘Simple’ on her latest single. Channeling the likes of cult R&B artist Khelani and fellow buzzy acts H.E.R and Ella Mai, Benita deploys her dextrously smooth vocal amidst bassy undertones and skittish beats.

Shirking her childhood shyness with her single-minded intent to pursue a career in the music industry, Benita’s latest effort further reinforces her progression and confidence when it comes to self-esteem, her personal life and her craft. Building on from the dreamily laidback tones of her debut single ‘Anything’, ‘Simple’ unequivocally portrays a young woman who knows exactly what she wants.

"Jay Glavany Shares Mini-Album ‘Let’s Get Lost’"

If there’s one good thing about Toronto’s harsh winters, it’s that they force the city’s incredible glut of talent to stay indoors and create music. Naturally, what results from this creative incubation is dope art that compliments the cold, hazy, and muted backdrop outdoors.

This thankfully means the gloomiest of days often give birth to incredibly rich and moody tracks from singers like Jay Glavany. The WOE affiliated, Toronto-based musician may have been absent from the scene for quite some time, but judging from his most recent release, the hibernation was well worth the wait.

Earlier this month, Jay dropped the incredibly soulful mini-album, Let’s Get Lost. The six-track project is a brilliant and unexpected debut, filled with melancholic vibes and highlighted by smokey, hypnotic vocals. Glavany produced and wrote all of the new material with instrumental assists from Adam P and Josh Service. Meanwhile, Benita and Khadijah Lopez provide the sole features on tracks “Body Language” and “Come Save Me”.

Speaking on the project, Glavany says Let’s Get Lost was built to evoke real emotion from the listener. “I love to create my music from the ground up. I would consider my sound soothing, groovy and sensual with a kick, and smooth vocals to tie it all together. My goal is to make sure my listeners are able to think back to a specific moment or see an alternate reality while listening to my music.”

You can listen to Let’s Get Lost on all major streaming platforms. You can also stream it here below via SoundCloud. - Complex CA

Bio

Benita Signh was born and raised in Toronto. Her family’s humble beginnings inspired a creative breeding ground. Benita crafted a wide variety of artistic skills while living through what she refers to as “a single child’s necessity for an overactive imagination”. She started singing at the age of 6 and immediately realized it was her calling. By the age of 14 she had finally mustered the courage to put her talents on display for her family, who have stood behind all of her ambitions since.

Through her childhood and early teens, Benita became somewhat of a local prodigy with her countless local performances in her borough of Jane and Finch. She then started to take on more showcases in the city, including Youth Day showcase and the Canadian National Exhibit Bandshell stage.

Benita got her first break when she was asked to share the stage with fellow Canadian Daniel Caesar. She secured a role singing backup vocals for him on a string of sold out shows. In 2017 Benita was among the top 17 artists for Honey Jams Female Showcase at the Mod Club, Toronto.  In 2018 Benita had the pleasure of opening for Kehlani alongside TRP.P at the Pride Festival in Toronto. She is now in The Remix Project round 15.0, a year long prestigious arts program for the best in the city.

Her career took a leap when she decided to travel to Montreal to create her first single “Anything”. The song saw some great success and reached the Top 10 of CBC music’s Searchlight contest. It was also played numerously on Toronto’s FLOW 93.5, VIBE 105.5, and G 98.7.  She then released "Simple" her second single which sky rocketed in streams very quickly in the first week reaching New Music Friday, Just Vibing, Fresh New Finds, and Shisha Lounge which are all editorial playlists. Both songs were also featured in "Toronto Hometown Heroes" on Audio Mack. With this song she was able to find a visual aesthetic that helped to form her distinct brand.

One theme that bleeds through Benita’s music is the theme of self-empowerment, self-worth, and getting in touch with your true self.

Benita has blossomed from just a beautiful voice into a true artist. There is proof that she has made her mark already with original music and more to come. She has a strong vision of blessing her fans with not only infectious melodies and cool tones, but the hopes of bringing listeners into her imaginative world and taking them to a different place with their emotions.
