Bio
Benjamin Escoriza used to be the lead singer of Radio Tarifa, the most popular Spanish world music band.
Radio Tarifa's first album Rumba Argelina (1992), a cult album in Spain, manifests everything the group wanted to be and reveals the synthesis of their sound: a powerful mixture of explosive Arab colours with medieval, Andalusian and Sefardi essences, a flamenco flair and Andalusian folklore.
Alongside, Benjamin Escoriza has always been writing his own music, so when the band dissolved in September 2006, he recorded his first album on his own, Alevanta.
In 2007 his album was released internationally by World Circuit Network and received outstanding reviews in specialized European press. Right now this restless artist is recording again and his new album will be released in spring 2009.
