B-1

B-1, the latest brainchild of Benjamin Hughes is pure unadulterated fun. Hughes, best known for his efforts as singer/songwriter for the Chicago Gonzo-Electro-Noise-Pop outfit MARVELKiND, is at it again with this pseudo one-man band. Blending all things that don’t blend he is breaking down barriers faster than Courtney Love is, well, breaking down. B-1 has been performing for about a year and a half gaining momentum, all over Los Angeles and southern California with rare performances in Chicago, San Francisco, as well as Hawaii.

In 2001 Hughes left his hometown of Chicago for warmer pastures. Upon his arrival to Los Angeles, he was instantly in demand to play guitar for The Calling and 30 Seconds To Mars, and sing for various projects including Wes Borland’s (Limp Bizkit) Eat The Day, Geno Lenardo’s (Filter) Widescreen, and a side project for none other than Nikki Sixx and Tracii Guns. Though all these ventures faired positive, Hughes knew his style and musical vision could not and would not shine properly in the shadows of larger, more successful bands.

Now, with his integrity still intact, Hughes is pursuing exactly what he always dreamed of with B-1, magical concoction of folk, electro, and rock all his own, on his own. Hughes’ one and only band MARVELKiND has a new E.P. slated for release by years end. Until then he’ll begin touring under the moniker B-1 and look for labels that share this unique artists sound and vision.
