Notorious underground hiphop, triphop and electro producer Benjamin Oaks releases his first and long overdue "solo" LP DEAD or ALIVE with old partners in crime The Amalgam (Ryan Naus of The Wolfgang Rebellion and Curt Carter of the original Amalgam).
Out from behind the soundboard and back onto the mic and guitar Benjamin Oaks shows where his roots are. Tracks on the album have notable and various influences like Tom Petty, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Wu-Tang, NIN, Nas, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Digital Underground, etc.
DEAD or ALIVE will please fans of hiphop, rock, blues, techno and pop! Especially fans of Beck, G Love, Citizen Cope, and Kid Rock. Like others have said - GREAT album to throw in the car...
"I'm an independent multimedia artist, producer and performing musician.
I'm currently collaborating with electro artist ViCE on a project called BASS as a WEAPON. We are finishing production on 10 pieces and will then work on the logistics to take this project LIVE!
I also produce triphop/electro oriented tracks with the Sweat Beat Collective, the Triple Threat Collective (on haitus) and solo as V1TAL.
I perform live with the ultrafunk/hiphop project BONES CULTURE, the postpunk band The WOLFGANG REBELLION (on haitus) and solo acoustic blues/funk as Benjamin Oaks. I have collaborated with/on numerous projects, artists and bands."
