Bio

At a time when originality in the music industry seems to be quickly fading, one person is ready to bring it back. His name is Benjamin Sound and he is here to prove that yes, music can be new and that emotion is still a big part of good music. With a sound that ranges from fast paced and aggressive electric driven songs, to melodic and heartfelt acoustic ballads, Benjamin Sound doesn’t sound like anything else before. Singer/Songwriter Frank Russell says, “Ben can convey emotion his music in a way I’ve never seen.”
Ever since being accepted into the prestigious Independent Music Production course at Toronto’s Seneca College, Sound has been steadily readying himself to blow on the Canadian music scene. He’s been writing songs constantly, while experimenting with midi and different types of music, as well as playing some small shows to get his chops up.
For the past five years Ben’s been playing shows all over his hometown of Kingston, Ontario, mostly with a full band behind him, at Coffee Houses and a few bar and club gigs. He’s also played a handful of acoustic gigs around the local scene. Along the way, Sound’s collaborated with others, experimenting with music all over the map, including speed metal, trip hop, folk and punk. Singer Brandon McDonald says of collaborating with Ben, “He’s one of the best musicians I’ve ever met to have around, he can play in any genre and he’s got the unique gift of knowing exactly what’s needed to complete a song.” Sound’s musical tastes range everywhere from The Mars Volta, to Elliott Smith, to Avenged Sevenfold, to The Strokes and the variety definetly shows in his music. One thing that Ben takes great pride in is his unwillingness to change or compromise his sound a certain way. He sticks to his ideals that all music is good music and that by classifying it you’re taking away from what it should be.
Ben’s got an array of new tracks just waiting to show to the public and a demo that’s in the process of being recorded right now. He hopes to start playing large shows with a band within six months, along with the demo’s release, and is perfecting his live show right now.
Finally and artist has arrived to bring something new to the fleetingly boring music that has been coming out lately. As Sound Says, “Music is meant to be new and constantly changing, you take inspiration from others, not music.” So keep your eyes open, because Benjamin Sound is sure to storming through Canada very soon.
