"BenniB - Journal of a Journey (Mixtape)"

Don’t know who BenniB is? Well, you should. His recent mixtape Journey Of A Journey recently caught my ear thanks to the excellent production and songwriting. Above is his latest video for “Someday Baby” and you can download and listen to the full mixtape below.

"BenniB - Journal of a Journey (Mixtape)"

Another newcomer on RTV, BenniB recently dropped this unexpected dope mixtape titled Jounal of a Journey. The production is what really stands out and it is hard choose only a few favorites off this tape. If I were to pick three, I would choose “Singin’ In The Rain”, “Money Tantrum”, and “Uncharted”. Definitely grab this tape and become a fan of BenniB on Facebook.

"BenniB - Journal of a Journey"

The cover art is really interesting. Upon first glance, I thought it was a bit odd because it didn't really match the tone of his mixtape. But then I started to draw the parallels. BenniB is from Seattle which is nicknamed "The Emerald City". So it turns out, this cover art is a spoof of the Wizard of Oz. It makes sense because the story is a journey, much like the album - Journal of a Journey. BenniB's wearing red Jordans just like Dorothy's red slippers.
We recently received a message from Jonathan Holman, BenniB’s manager, and it’s a good thing he reached out to us because this Seattle native certainly deserves the spotlight. BenniB has been working with Black Diamond who is a producing artist who works with Logic and Uno Hype. Below, you can listen to BenniB’s debut mixtape/album titled Journal of a Journey, which was released November 1st. He’s got a nice flow that sometimes reminds me of Kid CuDi (like in I Won’t Crash) and Mac Miller (in Money Tantrum) and Black Diamond does a solid job with the beats. Hit the Jump for a music video of “Not About the Fame” and also don’t forget to follow BenniB on twitter/facebook (links posted below)!

"New Artist to Watch For: BenniB “Journal of a Journey” Mixtape"

There are a lot of times when we get random submissions for mixtapes, let’s just say that they’re not always the best ones out there. This time things are different. BenniB is a local here from Seattle but has been making major moves on the East Coast recording and performing in Cleveland and collaborating with producers that work with Machine Gun Kelly, iPhonic, Mac Miller, and many more. His new mixtape “Journal of a Journey” just came out about twenty minutes ago and is a must download. Glad we could put our stamp on this and we wish the best of luck to BenniB as he pursues a career in hip-hop.

"BenniB - Journal of a Journey"

Seattle could be the new hub of great talent when it comes to the music business and while the challenge is nowhere near easy new talented artists emerging readily show hope. BenniB plays the uphill battle like many other new artists but with focus on delivery, good production, and songwriting his emphasis to be heard beckons. Playing spoof artist BenniB takes a all familiar classic theme of the “Wizard Of Oz” and the Emerald City for his release “Journal Of A Journey”. The release is sort of a disillusion to those who are willing as BenniB takes the core of hiphop and meshes them with a fusion of all genres that has you surprised at the fact that such a polished artist could be under the radar. The album features production from DJ Black Diamond (Producer of Mac Miller’s “Nikes On My Feet”), The KickDrums, Joey C Productions, Matt Gibson & Ben Schigel of Cleveland’s iPhonic, in addition to others. Notable track “Forever” pays tribute to local Seattle singer, Carly Henley, who tragically passed away last fall. She was a huge inspiration to BenniB and hopefully the song spreads awareness for her music and The Carly Henley Project. Features come from James Wade, iPhonic, Britni Elise, Mike Knight, BEDROC, JD Eicher, and Aaron Lafette - Tha Northwest

"BenniB - Start Me Up"

BenniB‘s first feature, I Won’t Crash, found the up-and-comer adapting the parable of the Prodigal Son for the modern age, demonstrating how a young man’s determination to live for today almost left him without a tomorrow. Don’t get it twisted, though - despite his suspicion of the fast life, the Seattle representative does know how to have a good time. In fact, judging by new promo single Start Me Up (making its world premiere right here in the DJBooth), the Seattle rhymesayer’s inner party animal was just waiting for its chance to get out. Cleveland beat crew The Kickdrums live dangerously on the production tip, flipping a sample from The Rolling Stones’ 1981 smash of the same title into a raucous backdrop for Benni’s chronicles of weed and liquor-fueled revelry. Throughout his verses, the rhymesayer manages to name-drop a veritable Greatest Hits collection of Stones classics—if you catch all 11 song/album titles (without recourse to Wikipedia), consider yourself a rock scholar. This joint isn’t attached to any forthcoming project, but those digging it can hear more on debut mixtape Journal of a Journey, released last November - DJ Booth

"BenniB - Not About The Fame"

Todd Gault sent over this chill gem last night, so props to him for bringing BenniB to my attention. BenniB is a hip-hop/R&B/electronic artist from the Seattle area who had this track produced by Ben Schigel , along with Matt Gibson of the group iPhonic, who I introduced you to the other day with their chill summer song “All Summer,” among others. The video was directed, filmed, and edited by BenniB’s manager, Jonathan Holman. As Todd explained in the email, this is BenniB’s first single off his mixtape coming out this summer titled Journal of a Journey. Based on this track, I may have to keep my eyes open for more from BenniB. Follow him on Facebook and Twitter - GoodMusicAllDay.com

"BenniB - I Won't Crash"

While the perils of living exclusively for the the moment are well-known, every addict to the fast life tells him or herself, “I Won’t Crash” until the other shoe inevitably drops. Booth newcomer BenniB knows what I’m talking about. On the current single off his debut street album, the Seattle up-and-comer offers a modern spin on the Biblical story of the Prodigal Son, recounting how a young man’s lack of direction sent him careening (both literally and figuratively) into the jaws of danger. With Matt Gibson‘s piano-led production as his backdrop, Benni paints a lyrical portrait of a listless weed-smoker with a grudge against responsibility, authority and—especially—his parents. High on the euphoric effects of free will, he quits his job, gathers up his worldly possessions and strikes out on the road. His hubris, however, soon brings him face-to-face with his mortality. Does he make it out alive? Guess you’ll have to listen and find out. It’s not often you hear a rapper extolling the virtues of humility and respect for authority, but heads looking for a new perspective will doubtless appreciate what BenniB brings to the table. If you’re feeling it, there’s plenty more where this came from on Journal of a Journey, available online as of November 2011. - DJ Booth
