Bio
Entertainer on Maui Hawaii. Performs Weekly at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa. Plays a variety of genres ranging from Contemporary,easy listening, classic rock, blues, jazz, folk, and Hawaiian.
Benny is a guitar virtuoso. He plays solo guitar and sings.
Benny studied music at the Berklee College of Music. There he studied under Mike Metheny, Larry Senibaldi and others. Benny attended workshops and seminars by Mick Goodrick.
Schoolmates included Makoto Ozone, Paul Mifsud, Roy Okutani, Phillip Polsaneli , Jan Thomas.Marie Mattei, Luis Ocampo, Jack Martin, and Luis Guerro
Benny also spent his first years in college at Seattle University and Cornish College of Music. At Cornish he studied guitar with Bob Rice. He also studied arranging and composition with Jim Knapp and Gary Peacock.
Schoolmates includes, Bob and Bill Johnson, Doug Hamilton, Marcus Spiro, Barbara Bodie, Michael Powers, Michael Brion James, Larry Fowles, Mark Bullock, and Robert Damper.
Benny also played with Ken McCann, Norman Lombardo, Rob Silver, David Lanz and Doug Royce.
Benny attended workshops with Howard Roberts.
Benny's musical career began in the town of Hilo, on the island of Hawaii. His first group was the Sound Track Vibration. He eventually played with the Estabilio brothers, Jon, Delis, and Felix Jr. The Estabilios, along with their father(Felix Sr.) were the most inspirational people that led Benny to his career in music.
Benny's father encouraged him to be a musician. Benny's older brother, Dom, taught him how to play the guitar.
Benny's dad, played the ukulele at the early age of 11 years old. His dad's child-hood friend, the legendary Hawaiian ukulele master, Jesse Kalima, encouraged Benny to pursue playing the guitar. Through-out his
life, Benny had the opportunity to play with Uncle Jesse
at various family events.
