"Album Review: Bensin/Leave Your Mark"

Bensin comes out with an impressive release on Search and Rescue Records entitled, “Leave Your Mark”. A lot of the songs have long guitar intros which is pretty cool if your into bands like Over It, Gametime, and Alli With an I. Tracks “Crash Down” and “Holiday” were the two tracks that popped out to me just because they had catchy lyrics and a nice drum beat to keep it all in rhythm. Song four, “The medicine” had that Yellowcard appeal to it. Song five I’m just going to not say anything about it, just hit the skip button on your CD player unless you’re into Fountains of Wayne. Song six is acoustic, so of course it’s a good track. At song 7 were back to the rock and roll like the first 3 tracks, they even say “girls can kiss my ass”, but it’s called old school. This album is really good and they even have a keyboardist, so if you like bands like Mae and Brazil you will also like this CD. Overall the CD had good production and the quality was excellent, so defiantly pick this album up. - Utterpunk.com

"Editors Pick: Bensin"

Buffalo’s Bensin presents us with their catchy synth-punk debut “Leave Your Mark” on Search and Rescue Records. Pop-punk will never be the same. Songs like “Old School” are classic angst tales that all teens have tucked under their collective belt. You may have even heard of them before under their previous moniker Dinkus 9 or on the Vans Warped Tour. The buzz that’s been circulating the scene since their name change and lineup shake-up is well-deserved. They write catchy pop-punk classics that noodle across the synth leads that separate them from the legions of other pop-punkers. Besides their guitarist Neal Brodefuehrer perhaps has the most un-pronounceable last name in the punk world.

Bio

Based out of NY, Bensin has been at it for just under 3 years. With a collective passion for touring, Bensin has taken their undeniably explosive and energetic live show on the road during it’s past 2 years of existence, creating a buzz touring the continental United States heavily. After 6 full U.S. tours, you may have caught them anywhere from a headlining tour, to ESPN’s D-Tour, to your neighborhood basement show. The band has a sound that is truly their own, mixing keyboards with catchy vocals, melodic punk hooks, rock, and drumming that is second to none.

The band has two songs featured on a Rockstar video games (Grand Theft Auto) release which is out now called Motocross Mania 3. Their music will also be featured in the upcoming film 'Funny Money' starring Chevy Chase (in theaters Spring 2006).

Bensin recently played on the Camplified Tour (www.camplified.com) which consisted of a tour that hit summer camps throughout the Northeastern U.S. This tour was a great success for the band and gained them a ton of exposure amongst an age group that they normally could not reach out to on a typical tour.

Bensin was also recently invited to play at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA for the Paintball World Series 2005! They played all 3 days of the Series' duration, along side such celebrities as Linkin Park, Cypress Hill and Will Smith.

The band has logged over 210 shows in a year's span and they don't plan on slowing down. Named 103.3 The Edge's Next Wave 'Buffalo Band of the Year'.

The band has opened for such acts as:

MTV’s Jackass “Don’t Try This At Home Tour” (Steve-O), The Starting Line, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Living End, Mae, Armor For Sleep, Billy Idol, Relient K, The Ataris, Less Than Jake, Mest, Boys Night Out, Mustard Plug, Catch 22, The Long Beach Dub Allstars and many more.
